not remotely. shake shack burgers are loved by all, including long time NYers.
joe's shanghai is a pretty good chinese choice as well.

Good lord, is Wo Hop still there? Back in the 60's/70's when I was in the theater-music biz we used to go there all the time after wrapping a show, 2-3-4 in the morning. Great food, reasonable prices.

I once took some elderly relatives there, in town from Ohio. I ordered the most accessible food I could think of. They took a bite or two of some things, but they LOVED the rice. They thought it was incredibly exotic. I guess it was, if you're used to minute rice.

My fathers store was about 2 blocks from the 2nd Avenue deli.
The Pastrami is unlike anything you can get anywhere outside a few places like Katz' and the Carnegie Deli.

The very best stuff you can buy at a supermarket deli is like comparing a Model T to a Lamborghini.

And, the pickles are to die for.

as mentioned wo-hop, joe's shanghai, but also bo-ky and peking duck house in chinatown and 66 restaurant way over in flushng if you like authentic taiwanese food.

John's pizza or bleecker street pizza if you like walk-in type, and patsy's/lombardi's for restaurant type.

For Pastrami, I actually prefer Carnegie Deli, somewhere up in midtown close to Carnegie Hall.
