Best place for music archive to stream (PCs and Android Phone)

We have ~ 8GB of music from our CD collection.

It us currently sitting on our old Synology DS210j NAS. Unfortunately, I cannot get the DS App to sync correctly.

My wife is probably getting the same phone I am (Moto G4 Plus) we would like access to our own music collection while in and away from the home.

I know OneDrive, Google Drive, Amazon (I am a Prime Member), etc. are places we can archive for various degrees of access. We have 3x PCs, a Windows Tablet, and an Android phone in our current list of machines.

Any positive experiences & recommendations?

I use OneDrive with MS Groove with my 100+ GB collection. I tried Amazon and other for awhile but couldn't make it smooth enough. I'll never go back now.

I have multiple machines with all OS"s including Android and Apple devices.

I use Google Music for that purpose. You can upload up to 50,000 songs for free and stream them.

I have all my music uploaded on OneDrive (O365 subscriber - have 1/10 TB), and Google Play Music. I recommend Play Music if you're an Android & iOS user. I've also uploaded to OneDrive, so that I can stream music in my Windows ecosystem (PC's + Xbox).

Google play is my go to. Playlist management and caching to devices is very good.

If all of your PCs and Windows tablet are on Win10 I would use OneDrive with Groove as Play music is pretty crappy on PC (basically browser based). Groove was very recently updated on iOS and Android, it is very good on all platforms now.

However, the problem is that MS nuked Onedrive to only 5GB free, so if you don't already have Onedrive space you are SOL unless you want to pay (or just upload a subset of your music).

If you are in that situation then Google is the only good solution, there are some 3rd party google music apps for Windows 10 to make it not so crap on PC but being 3rd party they are subject to breakage as Google changes things.

If you are on Windows 7, google is probably the best option.

I will give Play and Groove both a run to see what works best for us.

Plex server is free you can install on your PC and link it to your music library and create playlists etc. The plex app can access the server remotely and stream your music from your server PC. This will also work with video files so you can have your movie or even pictures on the plex server ready to be called up from anywhere. The only problem is you are using your home internet connection and data caps come may into play. The mobile app I don't think is free, but it's worth it to me since I have a pretty extensive movie collection on there.

If your homes bandwidth is not an issue, I would upgrade your NAS to one of the newer cloud storage devices that support the use of a plex server plugin. It would organised your media visually and seamlessly handles internet handshaking through its apps which can be found on most platforms (or a web browser on PCs). The plex clients cost some money but otherwise there is no cost upkeep.

I've tried a few options and have settled on Google Play. Works well across all of my devices and is easy to use. I have PC's, Mac's, Android and iDevices. I have no issues with playing music, getting my playlists, etc on any of the devices.

I'll say this as a person who uploads my music collection to OneDrive (O365 user as well) for use on Groove, and Google Play Music. The only reason I don't trust Microsoft with music is they keep rebranding it and changing it for the sake of getting traction.

MS OneDrive free service offers 5 GB of storage, whereas Google Play Music allows you to upload 50,000 songs for free.

A lot to chew on here. I tried a few albums on OneDrive and Play... still tinkering. I do like the longevity of the Google service/app... although Groove was completely seamless with OneDrive.

Google music here, I got in on the streaming service for 7.99 as well so having all of my albums plus the ability to stream other stuff makes it a great all in one solution. No problems with it being a browser player on PC for me, I can load it up at work without having to install anything so that's nice.
