Best place to buy Hardware

So the title says it all.

I went from California to Canada and I miss newegg and all the awesome cheap electronics.

Anyone with a lot of expirience buying hardware in Canada have any advice on good sites? So far all i've got is ncix and tigerdirect. Im looking to do a few upgrades in the short future and want to know where to get the best deals in Canada.

Thanks guys. I live in Edmonton, Alberta. There's a MemoryExpress store about 10 mins from my place. I've been in there, they seem to have pretty good prices.

Thanks again. Sigh, now only if DDR1 wasnt so expensive (looking to upgrade to 2gb of pc3200 and need to replace all 4 of my modules with 2x1gb)

I highly recommend Direct Canada, I buy a tonne of stuff from them. :thumbsup:

I also use NCIX a lot because they are just over the bridge from me and I can walk there. They have never steered me wrong. :thumbsup:

I have to say though that case-mod.com does ship to Canada.

Shoprbc and Canadacomputers are the ones with the lowest shipping cost I think with a flat shipping fee. I usually use shopbot.ca, pricenetwork.ca or pricegrabber.ca to find better prices.

The odd thing is, if I find something $25 cheaper on one site and the shipping is only $10 or $15, then I end up buying stuff from all over the place instead of being able to order a complete machine piece by piece from one site.

I have two computers with parts ordered all over the place. Pretty odd I guess.

NCIX should be perfect for you. They're based in BC somewhere... Prices aren't bad, have sales. I'd buy from them, but I'm across the continent.

Canada Computers: meh. Pretty good selection and prices, but they're in Ontario, and a lot of the staff are as*holes (downtown at least). Can say that about anyone though...

Unless you need to have something in your hands before you pay for it, buy online. I'm further east than you and I've been dealt very fairly with stuff I've bought from Ncix. Check out their newsletter for even better deals.

I can't comment on Direct Canada, but their prices do seem to be pretty good.

Nope, I think their staff are like that in general. They get way too much business because people want to save a buck here or there, so they don't care about customer service. I normally try to avoid them and buy from other stores if it only costs a few bucks more, just in case I have to deal with customer service for something like an RMA.

I once bought a CF card from them, it turns out it the package was previously (carefully) opened with the UPC cut out (obviously somebody bought it for the rebate and returned it). Yet they sold it to me as if it was unopened (of course I was stupid not to check the package, dope!) :disgust:

For the best prices in the GTA, shopbot.ca is a great tool. Right now this site finds local stores which beat ncix & directcanada prices on E6750 and Q6600...
