I have a tmobile family plan with 5 phones (and I've been out of contract for a while). I want to upgrade to smart phones with data extend our contract for 2 more years, but I find it a major bust that the discounts seem to be lacking for contract renewals...

Any suggestions of what the best way to go about upgrading phones on a tmobile network? I noticed that if I'm signing a new contract with t mobile, I can get the S2 for Free after rebate...but if I'm not, the price fluctuates between 150-200 dollars.

Or is my only real option just to network to someone else?

Online seems to have more options and better deals than in store. You can only get the 30 dollar unlimited package on their website or at Walmart. And actually the phone you buy at walmart needs to be activated online anyway.

Oh, with regards to your other issue: You get much better deals on new contracts than renewals. If you've been out of contract for a while you arent getting a renewal anyway, you are getting new service. Your phone numbers were probably given away some time ago.

Sounds like he is still paying and using their service. You can be out of contract and continue with their service. You are just not obligated to stay.....

Yup. The contract ended and we've been paying month to month since May.

I find it odd how tmobile.com has the worst deals possible (150 USD for Galaxy S2). I checked wirefly too and the deals are not hot (100USD for Galaxy S2). Costco didn't seem to have great deals either (and more complaints about the 3rd party company they liscense the sales too...same 100USD for Galaxy S2). The place with the BEST Deals seems to be...BestBuy! I can get S2s for 49.99 AR, and an S3 for ~170.

Get what you like on Amazon and just use your SIM. Or get a new SIM. Whatever floats your boat.

i don't see the logic shorty....I'll pay a lot for phones without a contract. I currently have all 'dumbphones' (no data)....so to upgrade 5 phones won't be cheap using that approach, especially since my contract doesn't include data right now....

Go on tmobile's value plans and just buy the galaxy nexus from Google. Way cheaper.

Since you are out of contract on all of your lines, I would just migrate the entire 5 lines to the value plan.
If you get unlimited talk and text, its only $80 right now for all 5 lines.
Thats right, $79.99. 1000 mins and its only $59.00
Add data for 1 phone 2Gb and its only +$10
And you can actually use corporate discount.
Go buy a phone out of pocket and(like the Nexus for $350) you'll be saving a hell lot more money in the long run.
