ocz if you want to spend money. Aspire makes some good models for around $50-60. Same for some older models of enermax.

Here are some good companies to go by:

Antec
OCZ
Seasonic
FSP Group/Fortron
PC Power & Cooling

OCZ no contest

either Modstream for stable rails and modular cables which i have and love

or the Powerstream for the more advanced Overclocker, as it has adjustable 3.3/5/12 volt rails ..

fanless has a lower WATT rating so it depends on what you are going to be running, primarily you are looking for the AMP rating on the 12V rail.

I agree with bona. OCZ, ANTEC, FORTON, PCPOWER, are all good brands. Antec and forton are probably the cheapest out of those. I personaly buy nothing but antec, very reliable and good support. Their rma is very fast, although only had one ever need it. Good solid rails etc.

Couple weeks ago buy.com had the Smartpower 2.0 500watt for $56 total shipped. Thats what im using. For ocing, might want a truepower though.

I would say any good name branded powersupply. I've had a enermax and antec, and both of them were good to me.

go for companies like Antec, enermax, seasonic, forton, pc power and cooling, or ocz.

Fortron AX450 450W for $50 from newegg (also posted in hot deals). This unit has dual 12v rails with 18A on each.

Uh, no...

PC P&C > Fortron/Sparkle > Enermax, Antec, OCZ, the other good brands > Thermaltake > Aspire > everything else is more accurate.

uh, no...

if you actually believe the power coming through a Fortron/Enermax/Antec is as clean as what goes through a Powerstream, well that's just crazy talk.

Enermax Noisetaker 485 V2.0 is an excellent PSU. I'd look for an Enermax or Fortron that's rated at 12V x 14A x2 OR 12V x 28A x 1 (continuous load). Avoid paying more than $75 for the PSU. Avoid modular plugs because the contact resistance will cause excessive voltage drop at high amperage.

Finally, look for a design with 24 + 4 detachable main power plug. The use of a 24 to 20 pin adaptor will also result in voltage drop at high current load.

Fortron and Sparkle are the best power supplies around. pcp and cooling is too expensive.

If people with Dells can run a 6800 Ultra on a Sparkle 250W, then you can definately run anything on a 450W Fortron psu.

as biostud said, get the cheapest with the highest rails.

that would be the Fortron 450W for $49.99

See thats my problem too. Its great to have one of the "best" power supplys, but unless you have one of those special money trees that grow in your backyard, price/quality ratio is important as well.
