Seasonic if you want a good, QUIET PSU with SLI support. It's a bit pricey though.

pcpc held/holds the performance crown

if you want fanless, antec has a 500w phantom (it has a fan that turns on when it needs to though, oxy moron)

If you want the best and have the money, one of the PC Power & Cooling Turbo Cools is the way to go. I really like Antec PSUs, but mine always got a little flaky with a high OC, but my Turbo Cool 510 DLX has rock solid rails, cleaner power, less fluctuation and a great warranty (& RMA dept). I burned out my 1st one, sent an email for an RMA, and had a replacement within days. Cant go wrong with one of these. But like others said, you will have to pay to get the best. But the PSU is the MOST important component in a PC, so I went budget on the rest of my system, but splurged on my PSU and havent regretted it since.

For $100 (not including tax), you can get a pretty darn good PSU...one from a manufacturer that has enough confidence in the unit to offer more than a pathetic 90-day warranty!

FSP 550 is less expensive, better rated, stronger rails, longer warranty, tested by independent sources etc.

The PC Power and Cooling silencer series are made by FSP. Nuff said.

Unless you are made of money, FSP and Seasonic are the way to go. Otherwise, Zippy and PC Power and Cooling.

BAD IDEA. BAD BAD BAD.

Here are some good companies to go by:

Antec
OCZ
Seasonic
FSP Group/Fortron
PC Power & Cooling

Aspire really arent that bad for the money... I use a set of two 550W's in my main gaming rig and over 2 years now have always had very stable power. For their cost, they do provide clean power. Of course the other companies you listed are better AND more expensive, but no reason not to reccomend a value minded power supply as well. The poster was likely just stating an option, not what he thought was the BEST...

the noisetaker is a awesome PSU, dual 12v rails and it has very stable power. Fixed most of the droop issues I had and stablized my oc.

I just ordered a HIGH PERFORMANCE PSU: TURBO-COOL® 510 DELUXE-- $193.50 + tax and shipping-- $214.00!!

http://www.pcpowercooling.com/products/viewproduct.php?show=T51DX

Then to top that off I was really bummed when I found what I thought was enough evidence to justify NOT getting a SinTek PSU...
Besides that I also understand some other brands bear a suprising resemblance to the SinTek...hhmmmm

have been doing some research on some other forums......Look at this....interesting huh??
500watts--

600watts

Also according to what I read in another forum....the box has NO UL approval....could lead back to those knobs or current adjusters...

Interesting huh?
