I'm looking for a PC to play GTA V in my spare time, although I want to build a PC later on I just want a Pre built one for right now. I want one that would be able to run GTA V, at least on medium settings. Please no posts on how I should build A PC.

It's gonna be tough with the current high prices of RAM and especially GPUs.

Your best bet would be get something like this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/263470204179

And buy a GTX 1050ti with the remaining budget. They are extremely overpriced right now, and cost what a GTX 1060 should if they were still MSRP. Otherwise, you will have to spend about another $100 to get the GTX 1060 which is a much better gaming card.

By any chance would this be any good? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227773&ignorebbr=1

In my opinion, not really. The RX 550 is roughly around $110, and is slower than the GTX 1050 or 1050ti and RX 560.

The problem with getting a decent gaming pre-built system is watching for sales. You actually just are past all the President's Day sales that Dell was running, where you could have been near your budget. Like ElFenix mentioned, is keep an eye at Slickdeals for a good deal.

quick question? would you trust a certified refurbished computer?

Yes. As long as it has been refurbished by a true company/manufacturer (not some unknown individual on Ebay). Then many of the refurbs usually come with a 90 day warranty (1 year warranty at Dell Outlet).

Dropping a GPU into a refurb is the best way to get maximum gaming performance for cheap, right this minute. But you'll need to be prepared to toss the entire thing in the trash when you decide to build your "good" rig, later.

I'd not be as fast to dismiss the RX550, if it's in a box like this one:

That's a hell of a system otherwise - depending on what you're doing besides playing games, a fast CPU can be.... nice. You can always upgrade the GPU later, finances permitting.

As an alternative, I'd be checking out local mom'n'pop independents that do custom builds. You can probably get an "intro" level ATX tower for ~$500 that might not run GTA V at max-everything-settings, but which will be a good foundation for upgrades once you decide to BYO. (Replace the low-end CPU with something faster, like Pentium->i5, drop in a better GPU, etc.)

I just picked up a certified refub OptiPlex 5050 from the Dell Outlet and it looked brand new out of the box. Not a speck of dust inside. After this experience, buying new for almost double the price seems insane to me. Give the outlet a shot.

I know this will be probably dismissed instantly, but the best prebuilt for under $550 that can run GTAV is gonna be some flavor of XBox One (X) or PS4 (Pro).

Between prices for RAM and GPUs, building a pc that can run GTAV and not look like poop is gonna be hard. Then build the PC you want later if prices come down. Unless of course you will be using it for other things?

I have purchased a refurbished computer from Dell and have no complaints about that computer during it's useful life before it became outdated.

I bought an HP "Power Gaming" desktop PC back in Dec. 2017 for a fairly inexpensive price. It included 8GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory, a Core i5-7400 Kaby Lake quad-core CPU, and a GTX 1060 3GB OEM (unknown mfg, maybe custom for HP, didn't seem to have a high-end cooler on it), along with a 1TB HDD with Windows 10 Home. I installed a 240GB SSD, unplugged the HDD, and installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 Home. Which didn't auto-activate, for some reason, probably because I had never let the built-in copy of Windows 10 activate on that hardware.

Anyways, a true quad-core mid-range i5 CPU, along with a GTX 1060 3GB, should be enough for GTA V on Med., I think.

This is NOT mine, but mine is the same model. Currently ~$600 REFURB on ebay.
