Best price-performance PC components currently?

My P4 1.6 (overclocked to 2.2GB) went west yesterday. I'm thinking about a replacement. What is the best CPU/mainboard available currently?

I made it into Newegg for their 1-day sale on a 2.4c @ ~$165 and an IC-7 @ ~$115. This seems like a super deal if you intend to oc. I haven't put it together yet, though, so I don't have direct experience quite yet as to how far I can push it without an adjustable multiplier.

As for the AMD side of things, it's hard for me to say. Maybe a 2500 barton?

Mobile barton 2400 and a NF2U will run about ~150$ and most oc to 2.4+. Either system will need good ram, pc3200 or 3500 for good oc results. On the other hand, bang-for-buck is different for different people. A P4C 2.8 is a strong chip, many oc quite nicely. If you don't plan to oc, an A64 3000@220$ is a viable option, great stock performance, especially in games. The radeon 9800 pro is prolly the bang-for-buck favorite vga card (~200$ atm).

I'd vouch for 2400+ mobile barton for ~$75 to $80 on the low end along with your preferred nForce 2 board (The Shuttle AN35 Ultra is quite cheap and has basic features too). Of course, PC3200 ram will cost a bit, with 512MB running over $80 bucks.
