Its not 2% its less than 1.6 percent. Its actually pi/2 so if you want to do the math you can figure that out. And everyone can get it if you use thier A9 search. I used the A9 search for a week or two and they added the discount after that, but its so small (we are talking $2 for the soundcard prchase) that I didn't bother to keep using it, I went back to google.
If you do lots of orders from amazon, maybe its worth it to you, and you dont mind searching with A9 instead of whatever you use.

In other words, this deal will likely be long dead before you can get the discount (takes a week or two of initial searching), but if you want to use it in future and you think its worth it you can.

Which one has the breakout box? All these versions confuse me. I just need something to replace my kick ass (but a little long in the tooth) Herc Game Theater XP.

Although since I want it mainly for really high quality DACs, and music playback, maybe an Emu or M-audio card is the better way to go.

There's the line up. The $300 one is the one with the breakout box. The platinum and fatality one have the 5 1/4" drive bay box thingy. The fatality is supposedly better for games since it has some extra onboard RAM, but so far all tests and benchmarks I've found show no differance, so IMHO its not worth the extra $60.

The x-fi series on the whole definately have very high quality DAC and Signal to Noise Ratios. Reviews confirm this, so creative isn't just making stuff up.

The price is good, but a word of warning, this is Creative we're talking about! Semi-annual/Annual driver updates even when recognized problems exist. In this case, a sound problem that surfaced in September of last year is still unresolved:

Hard to tell if you were being sarcastic (which would be understandable) or simply uninformed... Currently Quake 4 and BF2 supposedly use the X-RAM, from what I have read. Other games might use it, not sure. From what I have read, BF2 doesn't sound or perform any better with the X-RAM. Many feel it's a bit gimmicky.

No, I weas being serious. A number of reviews mentioned that the 64mb is really not used to achieve any real benefit. It would seem a waste of $60 if the only addition to the Fatal1yy is just the 64mb X-Ram

is anyone else hearing that the price drops for these are because a new soundcard is coming out soon for creative? wondering how long it will be and if it's worth jumping on this now, i mean you can't really pass up on this since it's such a hot deal.

Both great deals! Due to the low number of sales, I doubt you'll see many if any games out there that use the X-RAM b/c developers aren't going to add additional sound features that use the X-RAM for so few users of those particular cards. But I believe the 5 1/4 drive bay has unique red led lights. But I do consider the X-Fi one of the best computer upgrades that I've made recently.

Also, buy.com did have the Fatality for about $20 less if you include a MIR and use a 10% buy.com coupon(easy to find). However, I'm not sure if it's still available and there is a rebate.

Link is bad first of all. Second, that rebate is only good for purchase from their website store, so it won't work with this offer. Nice thought tho.
