<< Hey Nortexoid,

What did you think of Canada Computers?? Their prices are pretty good compared to other places but I heard that their service is sh|t. How was your experience with them?
>>

Yes their customer relations are real bad. But their prices are rock bottom so i guess you cant complain. Those little kids who work in their store think they're so "badass"... hahaha

DR Zone: Isn't that the problem of all computer stores? Most of the time they think of themselves as the center of the Universe and think they are vastly superior to everyone that enters the store. The problem is that they don't know their products and they don't even know how to build a computer. I think they should really give them a little training explaining the differences between the products, it will help them in the long run because people will be more satisfied. Now i have to call my local computer store for the 4th consecutive day asking them for the Antec Performance Plus 880 case. One guy said they don't have it in stores yet, another said they won't have it in store, it's a special order, another one didn't even knew about Antec cases and the last one I spoke to told me I should buy a 830/840 instead because it's much better.
Sigh

I have ordered quite a bit from NCIX. Their prices are good, and they are relatively quick in shipping individual parts (is there any other way?). I know that other people have experienced delays when ordering complete systems.

One thing to remember when ordering in Canada; if you order out of province, you will only pay GST. That is why I generally order from NCIX; they are in BC, and I live in Ontario. For me, a $300 item saves me $24 worth of PST.

barrei,

i 2nd your vibecomputers.com suggestion ..i buy almost all my stuff from them (have for the past year or so) and have yet to run into a problem. order tracking is online, they have order status too so you know where your stuff is (or isnt)..page updates are usually pretty good although i did have a back-ordered pioneer drive that was available when i ordered it..got a phonecall from them tho, telling me they had run out of stock and didnt expect the drive to be so popular, and should get more in a week ..got my tracking email 2 days later

guess we suffer on pricing no matter what tho compared the the US...i guess when you have 10x's the population you can expect better prices

edit:
forgot to add..since this topic is about prices, vibe usually has pretty good prices..if i do find a better price (which is where atic comes in handy sometimes) they usually match without a problem, although i had to email them to request it

I'm Chinese, so I've been around to almost all of the Chinese computer stores in the GTA.

Try these locations (some may be repeated in previously posts):

Canada Computers at Pacific Mall or College/Spadina
Macrotech at Midland/Finch (the owner and I are pretty good friends, he will pricematch anything, and deduct 5%)
Infonec somewhere in Markham - pretty decent prices.
Sonnam somewhere downtown - pretty good prices on miscellaneous things most other stores don't sell.
PC Village at First Markham Place (Highway7 and Woodbine I think) - good prices overall.
Logic Computer House at Steeles/Woodbine - lowest price in Toronto I could find on Radeon 8500LEs ($171CDN!)
Promax at Times Square - probably the most knowledgable computer technicians in all of Toronto there - cool guys, good prices.

In terms of service - Macrotech and Promax are top notch. Eddie@Macrotech, and Nelson@Promax - just ask for them.
