Would like to get a real good cd rom that is fast and has great quality . Had a Kenwood 72x drive that quit on me. Just looking for something that keeps on working , thanks for any replys Gary
I have used sony, toshiba, and panasonic and those seem fine. For scsi defidently get a plextor or a toshiba. Stay away from creative labs and memorex unless you don't mind a hell of a lot of sound for very little gain or loss in performance.
Get a Teac 540E. It has high average read times and DAE is almost as high as the Plexiwriter TSi, all for a fraction of the cost. You'll be able to burn at 16X on the fly with this baby.
I have a Plextor 40x MAX scsi cdrom drive and it's great if you are looking for a scsi drive. The DAE is excellent at about 17x-40x although it will go a little higher on cd's longer than 74min.
