AFAIK it's not even worth it to buy a detector if you're going to buy a cheap one. I would say save the money and wait until you have enough to get an Escort 9500i or 8500i (?), or Valentine One. I have the 9500i and it's saved my ass many more times than it's worth (in terms of speeding tickets). I wouldn't trust a cheap one.

Btw laser jammers are illegal, why did you spend so much money on it before a detector? Idk, I'm scared of using a jammer. What if you are alone driving down a street/highway and an LEO's radar goes bonkers? He's going to be suspicious.

I used to have a cobra one for years worked fine. I had tried the Cobra 9000 series (not sure what the highest model now is) it worked fine but do not turn on POP it was giving hella false alerts. It did fine on KA/K/X.. though not as senstive as the 8500 that i run now, but it worked really good.. but i ended up with the 8500 cause it is way more senstive.

edit:

I had an XRS 9700 model.. the cobra before I for like 6 years i dont remember the model.. but when i got the XRS9700 worked fine.. i dont remember why i returned it at that time.. or maybe i was short on $

I thought Jammers were legal in Texas....

i'm with everyone... no point in getting a $100 radar to go with $400 jammer.

Whats the make/model of your jammer?

i've enjoyed my 8500 x50 escort but its more like 250-300$ radar and i'm slowly considering jammers made by escort as well.

laser jammers are no use.. Problem is that lasers usually are aimed at the flattest part - usually your licence plate or front grill or rear end. A jammer's effectiveness is kinda useless at that point if you dont know where you're aimng at (or the LEO's). I prefer a radar detector cause teh beam widens (well the laser beam widens too over distance).

I'm sure one of these days someone is going to mount one of those AN/ALQ jammer pods to their car. It'll jam not only the radar gun but the police radio too. Along with every other electronic device for miles.

I had the Phantom III for a while, definitely saw it work. I was cruisin at about 70 in one of those zones in Ohio where they drop the limit to 55 from 65 just to speed trap you. I saw the cop, just too late, saw the dumbass grin on his face as he pulled the trigger, and then got to see one of the happiest moments of my life. The cop looked down to see what he got me at, then smacked his radar gun in disgust several times. Obviously the jammer worked.

I have an Escort 9500i, worth every penny... Don't waste your money on something below $100.00

Most laser jammers mount on the license plate frames for just that reason. But I have no idea about overall effectiveness.

Don't think radar detector that are below $100 are worth the money, investing in good one usually pays itself back within a few tickets.
