Well I ordered and installed a new system recently (DFI NF4 Ultra-D w/ Opteron 148), and my OCZ PC4000 EL(2x512) ram seems to really not like it I'm having problems getting decent timings at sub DDR450. What would be the best replacement? Was also wondering what psu you guys recommend. (2 optical, 3 7200rpm hd, 7900GT)

Thanks!

use a divider on your ram- this takes it out of the equation and makes little difference on performance
make sure you reduced hypertransport and have serial ata drives on correct ports for your motherboard- check with a motherboard forum

you are at the speed where these two items catch the unwary

once you have the divider set and HT set to 3x push your cpu to the max
then adjust divider to get higest stable memory timings at low latency

most likely not a ps issue unless no name worthless thing
you are not dual video sli etc
best is pc power and cooling but there are others
check your case temps and cooling first

Thanks for the response...I was unaware which sata ports I use would matter... however I did make sure the HTT stayed below 1000. It looks like all of the sata ports are locked.... does that mean I'm ok for that or are there other issues? The only reason I think it may be PSU related is that my voltage readings are really weird (5 reads as 5.8 and 12 as 16.4 :|).... it's a good psu, but it's not built for pci-e

Or if you want a modular PS that wont break your wallet. This one is 580W and SLI approved. It is also the Power Supply I use, and its quite robust, and has tons of great reviews:

http://xoxide.com/hiper-power-supply-blue.html

It is currently 99 bucks, I paid 120 a month ago, but I would pay 120 again. They have it in Black, Chrome and Blue. I picked blue, but all 3 are very attractive and run really well. It is also nearly silent and stays cool! It uses a 120mm and 80mm fan at low speeds, and the 80mm keeps spinning for 5 minutes after power off to ensure that all components cool off properly.

Not to mention the Modular connectors are impossible to put in the wrong spot, and they lock into place, so you will never have to worry about a cord slipping out of the PS like some modular PS.

100% burn-in under high ambient temperature 50C
Active PFC
4 x 12v @ 15a
SLI and Crossfire ready
>80 efficient

Ugly as sin but who really cares about that. I have the FSP 550-60 PLN and it's the most stable psu I've ever owned, practically no ripple. These psu's are designed to deliever maximum output in high ambient temperature enironments. Simply put, they are built to last.....

The Silverstone Strider 600W is >$159 at the Egg. The Exact same PSU is the Enhance ENS-0560P, for $97 via Froogle at http://www.ewiz.com/ (Enhance builds the Strider series). Read the reviews at http://www.jonnyguru.com/PSUInquisitor . jonny does one and one can be found at systemcooling & Xbit Labs. The Sparkle at $85 is VG but this unit at $97 is killer,120mm fan, full modular & fully sleeved.
Specs & pics at http://www.silverstonetek.com/ and http://www.enhanceusa.com/
You may have never heard of Enhance but they are highly rated units. A cut above FSP Group or Topower (builders of OCZ). All are good units however.

Yes, I bought one two weeks ago
