Here's my other machines, they might humor you.....put old computer parts into cases with lights and fans, and the kids don't know the difference, yet. They can have better when they have their own money.

#1 Trigem FloridaTG mobo/celeron 500mhz/3gb hard drive/192mb ram/emonster Lantra case (used by piano students, could care less if they play around on this and screw it up!)

#2 Napoli-2Mod Bios V1.13*PL-iP3/T 1.4Ghz Celeron*Powmax case/400W psu*384mb ram*CDr*FX5200*usb2.0 PCI card*5:1 soundcard*floppy*

#3 Amptron 3758LMR+*Powmax Case/400W PSU*P3 933mhz*80gb hd*Combo Drive*512mb ram*

it's not so crazy a rig that you'd think he couldn't have it. though a 400 sata wd doesn't exist... maybe 2x 200gb in raid0? and how did all that not cost you a penny (xmas gift?)

I use this for a lot of gaming, but I also have it set up with a Hauppauge PVR card for recording lotsa TV.

Cost? ... Way too much ($2300 for all parts), but it's my only hobby and I have no girlfriend to worry about, hah

Just out of curiosity... If you do a lot of gaming, and you built it recently, why the P4? One of the main advantages of an A64 for gamers, is that it smokes any P4. Including the mighty P4EE.

My last build was an AMD system so I decided to mix it up a bit. I get a high enough FPS in the games I play so I have no regrets about going with an AMD system just to snag some extra FPS that I likely wont niotice. I know I'm going against the grain here, being that most people here are pro AMD. I'm happy with my system though...so

400GB does exisit. I have it. But you're right about it not being a WD, it's a Hitachi. Typo.

I said in an earlier post when someone inquired about the free part....

"Get a job that'll pay for it."

As I bought it through my job and thus couldn't buy it in parts, I ordered one of these

http://www.abspc.com/app/config.asp?mono=1883&view=2

When I ordered before the new year they wouldn't sell it with anything except an FX55 (ALL SLI launch partners did this. Odd)

I would have ordered with a 3500+ myself, but since I wasn't paying for it I said WTF. ABS was the cheapest (of the well known vendors) of all the launch partners.

EDIT

It came with a nice binder with the scores of all the benchmarks they ran, signed and dated by the tester. The tests were...

PCMark04 - 4883

3dMark2001 - 25257

3dMark03 - 18610

3dMark05 - 8372

They also included a 5 page report from PC Mark of all the components.

I ran the 3d mark 03 and 05 benchmarks myself and they are accurate.
