best router approx. $50

looking for something like the BEFSR41... however it gives me terrible connection drops especially if i am using something like torrent storm (why does it do this??)

so i was looking to get a new router... microsoft apprently makes one for 30 bucks that has wireless built in...http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=664273

seems way to cheap....

my other options are DLINK or something like that.

and is there anything that will let you have multiple DMZs? For example if i want to be able to webcam from more than 1 computer inside the network i'd like to just open it up completely cause i dont know if you can just open a particular port for that application.

any recommendations??

SMC 7004VBR wll let you set up to 10 computers on the DMZ.

However since it is on the DMZ (in front of the NAT) each computer to be placed on the DMZ needs an ISP External IP.

I have deployed a few fr114P's to my remote users for VPN pass thru @ their homes. No problems @ all, except they are more then $50.

On the wireless side, I have and deployed 2 more of the SMC 2804 WBR's.

My pops has 3 Pc's running wired thru them and 2 runnng wireless (with WPA enabled) and has NO trouble at all. That can be had for under $45 from buy.com right now after rebate.

Oh, I do not believe you will be able to have mutliple DMZ's (the soho version of it anyway) with a NAT box and/or only having 1 public IP.
Your bitorrent problem is most likely the Concurrent session limitation with most SOHO Nat boxes. 1028 is the limit and if u have more connects then that, u drop or freeze.

I have that microsoft router (MN-500). And I have had no issues with it whatsoever. I get great range with the wireless and the built-in firewall is pretty good. There have been no compatability issues for me at all either.

anyway to stop torrent storm from going over that limit? so i can download files but not have the connection dropped? i didn't see anything in the settings...

Never used torrent myself, but it should have some type of connection settings. Try lowering them by a bunch!
