That's like asking what the best car is or the best food. There is no best. The best is what is best for your situation and it's different for everyone.

What size are you trying to cover? Do the wireless devices support MIMO, 802.11ac? Open floor plan? How many floors?

I'd suggest getting a few locally if possible and see what works best for you. If you have ethernet in the house, go for a good router and a few APs.

I've found the best setup for me is a ASUS router (still has it's issues) and a Unifi AP (wired POE)

Sorry. About 2000 square feet. No idea. iPad Pro 10.5 inch and iPhone 6s for my wireless devices. One floor.

Is this a good one ? ASUS AC5300

Best brand? IMO, the ones that are on top of firmware security updates. Even the best brands have vulenabilities exposed, but it's how good they are with patching that matters: Google, Linksys, DLink, Netgear.

As for coverage. There is no one perfect WiFi router for every home. Luckily mesh is very popular and there are plenty of good choices. I tend to recommend GWiFi to the average joe. Keep them wired backhaul for exceptional results. I'm also keeping my eye on the Linksys Velop (same hardware as GWiFi) and the newer, cheaper variations of Netgear Orbi. For a single router again, Google onHub/GWiFi, ASUS 1900P (latest version of the benchmark RT-AC68), Archer C7 or Netgear R8000 (latest v of the benchmark R7000).

I've been happy with my TP-Link Archer C7. It seems to cover my entire house pretty well. If you are looking for the best meshnet Google Wifi is getting rave reviews on that front but may not be a product google keeps. If you want to get more technical Ubiquiti Unifi is the professional grade that I like to deploy.

Had good luck with a Netgear router running dd-wrt and then a couple Unifi AP's.

Looking for the best router brand please?

Looking to spend $250 to $350 and have 10 to 15 devices.
More right than best i'd say. Kinda depends on your needs. RT-AC88U Wireless-AC3100 is one option that's under 300 bucks. another option would be TP-Link AD7200 Wireless Wi-Fi Tri-Band. Yet another would be Roqos core WIFI VPN router. TP-Link Archer C7 is again, another decent option or Nighthawk R7000. It'd bw great if you can share the need specifications. If all that needs to be done is to connect 15 devices, then Nighthawk would suffice i guess.

Newegg has the Asus AC-1750 router, refurb, for $59.99, if cost is a major consideration. I believe that this is an AC66U-class router. (If not the exact same hardware.)

I vote for Ubiquiti.

I have an ER-X router (but really want a USG), and a UAP-AC-LR access point to get wireless. I have about 12 clients wireless, and 2 wired. 100mb down, 5mb up. working great.

The problem with the USG vs the ER-X is the slower CPU. 500Mhz Dual core vs 880mhz dual core.

I'm personally waiting for an updated USG to come out as I personally don't find the specs quite up to what I need for a 1gbps ISP.

The PPS's between the two are quite different. the USG boasts hardware accelerated PPS performing 3x or greater than ER-X, based on packet size.

The USG is meant to be much more user friendly GUI and more advanced features must be accessed via the CLI. Whereas the ER-X and ER-L are less friendly GUI, but with a lot more options without having to access the CLI (though you can still configure it that way if you want).

and PPS isn't the only performance metric to take into account. IPsec for example can easily cap the USG at ~10-20mbps. Whereas the ER-X can hit 100mbps+ at similar encryption settings.

All depends what you're going to be doing and exactly what you're looking for from a router.

exactly. for home use, the ER-X has proven itself to me in over a year of using it, as well as the WAP.

If/when I get a USG, i'm not discarding the ER-X right away
