Best Silent Or Extremely quiet powersupply.

The fan on my powersupply is about to go so I guess I will be replacing the PS soon. I would like to replace it with on that is less loud. I have Apsire Dreamer II case and I am running a 754 set with no overclock. So I am not really looking to drop $200 on PS. Please drop in your suggestions.

Send a private message to JBDan or possibly GalvanizedYankee or maybe even BonzaiDuck I am sure all 3 of those people can tell you how to replace your power supply fan as well as which fan to get.

I know JBDan has offered to help me replace the fan on my PCPC Turbo Cool 510 Deluxe!

Go to the Dealer/Vendor section of the SPCR forum. They have a thread where they sell old review samples, you can usually score them pretty cheaply. Alternatively, try to get a good price on an Antec Phantom or a Seasonic PSU

Seasonic S-12 is very quiet. I use Enermax and it's quiet too, as long as you put a fan in your case elsewhere you are not gonna hear it unless you put your ear next to it.

And you may or may not want to risk getting a passive PSU, but those aren't made in very high wattages.

What psu do you have? Fan swapping is fun! The Seasonic gets my vote for quietest psu if you go for a new one.

Antec makes a 500w Phantom, though it comes with a fan in case the temps get too high.

That's kinda part of my point, I wouldn't trust any high power PSU to run on passive.

I own a 500W Seasonic S-12 and can vouch that it is definitely silent running. I only have two fans in my case: the 120mm fan in the S-12 and the 120mm fan on my Zalman CPU HSF which is set to its lowest rpm. I unplugged the fan on my 9600pro and it still performs great. Combined with an ultra quiet Samsung Spinpoint 160GB drive, the computer is whisper quiet. I unplugged the LED lights on my case, so I can't even tell if it is turned on except for red led light on my mouse! LOL

if you can find it, the SuperFlower PlugN psu's are nice. They have a 14cm fan which can be to set to auto mode, silent mode, or turbo. they also have a nice finsih and i think there are a number of different colours you can get. Iv got a 500w version in my pc, and its silent! Even when im running stress tests, the fan in the PSU never goes above 1000rpm, and at that its DEAD SILENT. Runs for 5 mins after pc shutdown to exhast excess heat.

Modular cables are nice but there is also a cheaper non-modular version if you are interested. They also go under the TTGI name, and are the OEM manufacturer for Enermax.

I've had the seasonic and the zalman. I prefer the zalman.

Tom's hardware has been doing some exhaustive PSU tests with good results.

Check them for details.
