I know the feeling, I drive an Acura RSX in Texas, where like 70% of vehicles sold are pickup trucks. My dad drives a Dodge RAM 1500 Quad-Cab with Texas Lonestar package (20" wheels etc) and I make sure it's not in his way when I park my car in the driveway.

..if I needed a small car I'd go wit the Corolla.

Only if you like reliable. Mazda 3 for me.

fixed

It's a point a to b car. I prefer my commuters to have a proven track record of being able to hit 200-250k miles and 15 years. Not like you'll need a sport suspensino for the ride to work.

<-Disclaimer: Deives a Camry and MR2 Spyder so might be a little Toyota biased.

Only if you like boring. Mazda 3 for me.

..reliability is my prime prerequisite. Tedium is not my perplexity.

Yeah it really is a dog. When I saw it I was sure it would bomb, but amazingly enough there are suckers out there who say "Ooh that's hot cuz it's a Honda." Imagine if Ford or Toyota spawned that thing, it would debut to collective yawns and would be totally ignored.

I really like the styling of the mazda 3 and it gets rated pretty well too. The car is a bit small for my taste but i would get it over a focus any day.

Mazda 3
Honda Fit
Scion Tc
Chevy Cobalt/Pontiac G5 with the 177hp engine or supercharged 205.

Those are the ones I'd consider

I rode in a prelude with 6 other people once.

Stickshift, too, so we had to avoid the center consol.

It was uncomfortable.

Some I would immediately think of.

Mazda 3
Toyota yarus
Nissan Sentra
Ford Focus
Civic ranks last on my list, but that is because too many punks drive them.

Ehh.. I sold my protege at 180k, and is still ran well and probably had years left. Besides, things that I have heard recently say that Toyota isn't quite the fit and finish / reliability juggernaut it used to be. Now the corolla, which hasn't been redesigned in years (and probably has poor crash testing) will still be just as reliable as the old ones, but wait till it gets redesigned.
