hey thisSkool, i would probably go with an alpha, hedgehog, or a fop 38 =). the alpha pep66 or the pal 6035 are nice options. the hedgehog is big and COOL! i dont know which is the best, try reading socket a heatsink reviews, but some of the reviews are wrong, see mikewarriors site for more info.

thisSkool,

just don't get a PEP66 or a big Taisol HS because they don't fit on your board without modifications. Personally I don't like the Alpha design, so I'd choose a FOP32, which I also ordered yesterday (same board like you). The Hedgehog's design is similar to the Alpha PAL6035 but it's made completely out of copper, so it's WAY too heavy if you want to move your PC. So it doesn't seem to be a very ergonomic HS.

My fop38 is on the way, boy should that be fun to listen to... I also have a chrome orb sitting around, but I haven't tried it out yet as my motherboard&case has yet to arrive

Eyez, I'm currently using an Alpha pep 66 w/Abit Kt7-Raid. Had to place the fan & shroud on top of the H/s. (took like 2 min.)

Put it like this...If you get a high quality H/S & fan you system's overclockability will not likely be limited my excess heat.

Here's a good comparison. The heat sinks are listed from best to worst performers. The higher the "COP" number in % the better design or efficiency and the higher the T(r)- T(cold) the better the performance.

All heat sinks were lapped for these tests.

COP Data

Its okay... From what i've heard from people using it on t-birds, is that the heatsink gets fairly hot, which isn't really a godo thing.

Mikewarrior2,

nothing is wrong with good design and I just expressed my personal opinion. I didn't make good experiences with the Alpha PAL6035 because I never liked its clip...I felt it was always a bit weak, which is no wonder because it's just a slim piece of "wire". It has to be, though, because of HS design. Personally I prefer stiffer clips which are easy to handle (Coolermaster, Pentalpha).

That new cooler from Swiftech is probably the best you can buy.
It's a monster....uses the mobo holes to mount itself :Q
Now only if they made that in copper

I just looked through the hardocp comparison. Seems like the Vantec FCE-62540D is the best when price/installation ease is considered. Inflow direct has it for only 19.99 +shipping. I'd like to get one ASAP...just one question, does it fit on an abit KT7-R?

i like the alpha pal6035, and most alpha designs. i like how they always have the fan a little over the heatsink, and not right on top of it, which eliminates hot spots. like in the center of the fan, it's not sucking out any heat, but when the fan is given a little space, the air moves a little more freely.

just thougth id input a little =)
