Next thing I know you guys will be trying to talk me into buying $90 keyboards. LOL
That's nothing dude, I remember back in the day Sound Blaster 16 ISA's being $150 and the "high end" AWE cards over $200. For the best gaming experience, $90 is cheap. If you spend about the same for a video card, might as well match it with a cheaper sound card. The ZS is not the only solution though. If you can find an Audigy 2 OEM, it should be about $60 and it'd be difficult to hear the difference from a ZS. You could also go a bit retro and use an Audigy LS, a.k.a., the original Audigy. It has worse sound quality, but the gaming support is still there with a pricetag of about $40.

FYI keyboards also used to be very expensive but were built like a rock with the pre-silicon switches we have in cheapass keyboards these days.

Also remember you won't notice much of a difference if your speakers are crap. I know a lot of people that buy crappy $50 speakers and go out and buy a $100 audigy 2.
Audigy 2 won't be that much better than nforce2 soundstorm(which you should use that instead of SB Live! now), if you use digital speakers. In fact nforce2 soundstorm is a more powerful chip than audigy 2 and will get better benchmark scores.

They're crap speakers.

LOL

I have them and they sound great. Nothing under $125 will touch them. Do they sound as good as my Infinity Alphas in my home theater setup? No...but these are for a PC and they are perfect for gaming and music.

Perfect for music? Did you miss the "horrible dynamic range" and "extremely flat" parts of his post? I fail to see how they can be "perfect" for music if they have these qualities.

I didn't miss anything bud. That is one person's opinion...do you believe everything you read on the internet??? I suggest you do a search here and read the hundreds of posts on the subject or go over to newegg and read the reviews. Then...now try to stay with me here...take all that information in and form your own educated opinion.

Do you own the Z-640's? Have you heard them? If not then your opinions are irrelevant anyway.

It's not just one person's opinon and I didn't JUST read it on the internet. Yes, I have heard them and I also OWN a set of the 2.1s with the same weak satellites. I'm sorry but you wouldn't know a good set of speakers if it bit you in the but.

The fact that you have some decent speakers doesn't mean you can tell the difference between crap and good speakers.
In fact, you've proven that you can't because you said that your crappy low end logitech's sound good. They're some of the worst sounding speakers I've ever heard and they're widely regarded as being very flat with no high end (clipped dynamic range) and, whenever they're reviewed are only recommended as gaming speakers. That's all they're good for since they're CRAP!

Haha. I love baiting you morons in and seeing how worked up you get. Are you breathing heavy...is your face all red...sweating yet? LOL. Personally, I could care less how good or bad you think they are. Just having some fun at your expense. You've amused me enough for today. That is all.

Sennheiser HD497s and Grado SR-80s for a couple that will obliterate them inside that price range.

On the general topic- as a long time Aureal fan I have to say that I feel the Audigy2 is the best gaming solution on the market if you aren't hooking it up to an external receiver. EAX HD actually is getting pretty close to the immersion of A3D 3.0, I figure if CL has another few years they will be able to pull even to where Aureal was when CL used their lawyers to shut them down. Overall sound quality on the Audigy2 significantly surpasses what was available on the Vortex2, it is a huge difference.
