Ya, Bose has the best quality sound systems and gives a nice discount to MIT students so I tend to buy from them. Otherwise I use Creative speakers which sound almost as good for PC gaming and can be purchased for significantly less.

You don't need to. However, while the Audigy will not output 5.1 with video DVD, and at least on my OS will not play audio DVDs at all, regular music CDs do put out on all 5 channels. Perhaps you don't care for the surround sound, but I do.Originally posted by: dBTelos
5.1 speakers have no advantage while playing music. I don't see why you would recommend them.

Game sound also puts out on all 5 channels.

During the installation of the Audio Console, it specifically says that it doesn't support audio DVD in x64. Maybe it will when I get my MCE installed.
I don't know anything about MP3, because I generally buy the music that I want locally. There is no special form of CD to get 5.1 sound, so all of my CDs work that way. In any case, neither I or you know exactly what any particular person has or wants, unless they say so.Originally posted by: dBTelos
I ment most music.... Chances are the OP doesn't have a large collection of surround channel music (most people don't), he probably just has a bunch of MP3s (most people do), MP3s are only coded for 2 channels.
