Best Speakers around $50 Range

What are the best speakers 2.1 or 5.1 speakers around the $50 price range. I'm looking into Logitech Z340. Any other good ones? Thanks.

i would look on ebay. i got myself a pair of altec acs-48's for $40 and they are badass. they used to be altec's top of the line 2.1 and they were just discontinued for a more attractive model. you can find all kinds of deals like that. just make sure you check the feedback on epinions.com or the like before you buy.

also, if you are truly looking for good sound quality, you need to go with a two-way speaker. two way means a tweeter (1" driver or smaller) and a midrange driver (3" or bigger) two properly reproduce sound. most manufacturers have abandoned this design due to the fact that a subwoofer provides low end kick on almost every model. however, for true clarity, you need it. try altec lansing or klipsch, many of their models are still two-way.

Ditch the speakers and get some good headphones instead like Grado SR-60s. They'll sound much better than cheapie 50 dollar speakers.

Altec Lansing ATP-3. 6.5-inch Subwoofer. 2 3-inch mid ranges, 4 1-inch kevlar tweeters. Awesome lows, nice mid range and amazingly crisp and clear highs. Proud owner too!

you should be able to get a set of Boston BA-790's. great speakers. in my opinion, better than either the ATP or z340 systems.
