Oh my.

I really needed a new phone to replace my shitty Razor. I haven't been listening to music on the go for a couple of years, since my very nice but user-unfriendly MD player has been retired to shelf-duty and recording vinyl here and there. I also wanted a way to check work email here and there on the go.

Figuring that I could kill a few birds with one stone, I caved and bought my first ever Apple product in the form of an 8gb iPhone... and then I came.

I haven't put a single mp3 on it yet (backed up and stored my mp3's a while ago), but I've been listening to kick-ass new music with Pandora all afternoon over EDGE with no skips.

When does buyers' remorse set in with this little gadget?

The only complaint I have so far is that the earbud headphones don't fare well with my weird ears. They hurt. I'll have to probably get a pair of comfy in-ear monitors, since I don't want to lug Grados around like I did with my MD player. =/

Bear with me--I'm just a little excited and pleased, and wanted to share.

Hah, welcome to the club!

I had a hint of remorse the second day I had mine because I thought I'd never get used to the keyboard. But I did and have been loving the thing ever since!

Enjoy!

I don't think I will ever get used to the keyboard. Been using it full-on for about two months and I'm nowhere as fast or accurate as I was on my 700wx.

It'll sound pretty good with some decent headphones. If you want to go cheap, get some JVC Marshmallows and Kramer mod them.

I'm still embarassingly in love with my Ipod touch. I just found a new air hockey game called FSS Hockey, it rules.

How long did you have the treo? How long did it take you to get used to that?

I'm just curious because I've never had a phone with a qwerty keyboard. Aside from the iPhone of course.

My first QWERTY was a Hitachi G1000, then a PPC-6600, then a Treo 700wx. So I had been using a QWERTY phone for about 4 years now, but the lack of physical feedback is really difficult for me. You have to train yourself to just type it, let the phone auto-correct for you then read it over for any missed or incorrect corrections. MOST of the time, the auto-correct works fine. I don't think I would turn it off even if they offered the option, my fingers often don't hit the key I'm aiming for, and one-handed typing while not looking at the phone is impossible, where on a physical keyboard, I could slide my fingers over keys and type a message blindfolded if i had to.

I have Ety 6i's, they're pretty good. In-ear earbuds. Very good quality.

I caved and bought a 16GB White one. The keyboard is really hard to get used to for me since I came from an AT&T tilt (which is for sale/trade *wink* *wink*).

So now you know what all the fuss is about. Pandora radio for the iphone rocks!

I wouldn't call it buyers remorse but the constant crashing of Safari on my original iPhone and now much more frequently on my 3g is a pain in the ass. I think its due to apps I have installed. The iPhone's not perfect but it is leagues ahead of the other guys, I recommend it to anyone and everyone who asks me what phone they should get. I guess Nokia HTC et. al. are catching up, but that's the thing in the year that the iphone has come out it has simply changed the expectations altogether of the technology segment solely because Apple knew what the entire user experience should be like. From buying it to opening it up to using it to finding new holy cow features to telling everyone about it.

Once again, as you hinted at, I think Apple has completely changed a whole market segment--again. IMO, the iPod will not be topped for a while, possibly the foreseeable future, and same for the iPhone (for now).

Exactly, say what you will about the iPhone, but it has completely changed the market. Do I think that the iPhone will become like the iPod? A runaway success upon which Apple built their revival? I am not sure, Apple is in a pretty good place right now financially, and reputation wise, so they don't need the iPhone to be like the iPod. But, go to any cellular provider, look at their phone options. How many of their phones are either a: large touchscreen only phones or b: large touchscreen with a slide out keyboard? Now, how many did they have before June 29 2007?

all these rave reviews made me cave earlier today. i was on verizon going month to month, and was hoping to hold out for the bb storm, but my friend offered to buy my touch off of me and my current phone was crapping out on me. god this thing is sweet. it's everything i imagined it to be.

Congrats! I caved Saturday. I even ate the $175 termination fee with Verizon

I found the keyboard easy to get used to, but those headphones do suck pretty hard. I splurged on a set of Shure E110 in-ear buds and love them.

Next thing you know you'll own a macbook.

Welcome to the dark side! There is no going back to a "normal" phone.

When I have to deal with blackberries at work, it's like getting kicked in the nuts.

you do realize verizon now pro-rates their termination fee right? if you paid 175 then I'd call back and bitch.

I opted out early as well to switch the iPhone and I paid 80 in termination fees IIRC.
