So far nothing I've bought compares to Haagen-Daz. Their strawberry is leaps and bounds better than the Breyers that I just got and the Dreyers I just finished. Can't get Blue Bell here so looking for something that has less air whipped in.

?

I don't follow.

People who are really picky about food or have good taste generally are less apt to eating a ton.
If you savor food you don't shovel so much into your mouth.

Of course, there are exceptions.

OP, I like Häagen-Dazs, as well. Their ice cream is dense and rich, very flavorful. I rarely eat ice cream, though, and not anymore. There are probably a dozen better brands out there, but none that are widely available national brands.

Haagen-Dazs is made by Dreyers.

I agree that it is #1 store bought. #2 would be Eddy's, as it comes in larger containers ( ) and is probably best bang for bucks.

Friendly's for French vanilla and black raspberry. Blue bunny for pistachio. Haggen daz for vanilla swiss almond. Ben and Jerrys mint cookie.

I don't care for breyers as the texture of their ice creams is very off to me.

You have to read the labels on everything these days. So many once great ice creams are now packed with whey protein.

How fat are you?

why was this the first reply? if you like ice cream, you're automatically fat? I have ridiculous cravings for ice cream and I'm 5'10 155lbs.

my favorite so far is Target's archer farms brand espresso chip. I've bought it constantly and I'm still not sick of it.

Well duh! It's triple the price, it should be better. The "super-premium" ice creams like Häagen-Dazs, Stonyfield and Ben & Jerry are a completely different product than the "near premium" like Breyers, Edy/Dreyer, Friendly's, Turkey Hill and Blue Bunny. And even then, it's not necessarily all that good. Häagen-Dazs has a killer vanilla and a 4th-rate chocolate.

Blue Bell

/thread

Sorry, this is incorrect. While Blue Bell is competent, they kind of do "just enough" to make decent ice cream. It's good, but nothing memorable.

The best store bought ice cream (as has been mentioned here before) is Graeters. It's expensive (1 pt will run you around $5), but WHOLE-EEE CRAP is it an experience!

They only make two gallons of the stuff at a time, and they use the best ingredients available in every batch. The vanilla chocolate chip is my favorite because it always has a giant chocolate nugget in the center of the container

Many stores carry it, but the problem is since it's so expensive, it sometimes sits in their freezers too long and gets freezer burned, so be careful it's fresh (stores like Kroger do mandatory stock rotation, so it's safer buying it there if you have one available).

The stuff is so good that celebs actually have it flown in from around the world (ah, to be rich).

Graeters is expensive generic dog food when compated to blue bell

Oh god, are you one of those "I found a brand that I like, and therefore will not try anything else because I'm so smart there can't be any other possibilities" people?

I like to try other ice creams people suggest to see what's out there. Graeters has always been the best. Friendly's is also good, but they're nearly non-existent anymore. We have a local brand called Toft's which is really good if you want to cheap out.

The most exotic ice cream would probably be Jeni's, but at $10 a pint, it's definitely a special occasion treat. However, the Whiskey & Pecans is about the 4th best thing I've ever put in my mouth:

I rather eat store generic than Blue Bell. Blue Bell is so bad I can taste the plastic like artificial ingredients. Something I have hard time doing even with cheap generic like Walmart Great Value ice cream.

I prefer Trader Joe's ice cream, Ben & Jerry, and Haagen Dazs.

Ice Cream Test:

Put chunk in sink. If still there the next morning, do not buy that brand.

Also if cat will not eat, dont buy.

I like Eddys best, wont buy Ben & Jerrys because of their politics (even though they sold the company now I believe), Hagen-das overpriced but good.

What I really like is a large, very firm Dairy Queen chocolate cone but thats another type product.
