Do you mind buying a used one, as long as it has warranty and is in great condition? There are a lot of socket P C2D models available now for around $400 if you don't mind buying used.

I just bought my Momz an off-lease Dell Latitude D630 on Ebay for $360.00 shipped that is like brand new:

Came with Windows XP Professional but the BIOS has the necessary support for OEM activation of Windows Vista. Dell's warranty checker shows that it still has some 400+ days left on the warranty. I'm not 100% certain it is transferable to me, though. If not, I could purchase a SquareTrade warranty for $50, but I'm not going to.
