I know I've owned a few sets of these and probably have one or two still lying around somewhere... but I also know that some of them tend to be crap, and others seem to work really well. What are your experiences? What brands would you recommend?
laptops just need the plug converter, not the voltage converter. if you look on the brick part of the laptop cord, it should say "input: 110-220V, 50-60Hz"

When I go to London, that's what I use. All the devices I bring with me (laptop, cell phone, digital camera charger) all support that range. I do notice that some of those plug converters lack a hole for the ground prong, so just keep an eye out for it when you're shopping for one. They sell them at the airport for about $10 each.
