Best underwear for exercise?

Any of you guys have recommendations for the best underwear to wear during exercise? I'm looking for:

1. Good moisture wicking
2. Prevents chafing
3. Comfortable

I've tried a number of types of boxer briefs - usually cheap and made out of synthetic materials - that satisfy #1 and #2, but they suck at #3: some pairs don't stay put and roll up the leg, some are uncomfortable in the crotch and some give me wedgies. It's getting annoying, so I figure it's time to invest in something higher quality. I participate in many types of physical activities, so they need to be pretty versatile: running, biking, weight lifting, gymnastics, rowing, hiking, basketball, hockey, jiu-jitsu, etc.

Under Armour compression shorts.

Keep the boys comfortable, don't ride up, and keep my legs dry.

They work very well for squats (etc...) because they don't bunch up near the bottom (haven't we all ripped boxers mid squat, haha?).

Running in them is very nice too, because after you're done your legs are dry and all the sweat gets wicked out into your outer shorts.

(Edit The cheaper compression shorts work too (Starter's are $10 at Walmart) but their moisture wicking is not up to par with UA.

AWSOME thread was looking for info here. The price on them isn't awesome though, my running shorts were the same price. I might have to get a pair and try them out.

I don't think there is a best 'underwear' esp if you are wrapping even rowing into this.

Personally properly fitting briefs have always been best.

Anything with a leg has always been an issue.

Good tighty-whities will do. Anything that has the word "boxer" or "short" = no.

I really like Under Armour long boxer jocks, and wear them exclusively now. They meet all 3 of your criteria. UA makes them in short, medium, and long variants. I suppose the length you buy will depend on how long your legs are and also how long you want your underwear to be.

Since you wear them all the time how do they hold up?

The spandex underwear the Air Force sells (they don't actually sell it, but the company that makes them escapes me) for PT works awesome in my opinion. Wicks sweat and was invincible to chaffing (in southern mississippi weather (95 degrees 100% humidity even at 4 in the monring).

I wear Under Armour compression shorts. They work great for me. I used to wear boxers under my gym shorts and they'd alway split when I do squats.

I cannot speak to running, as I do not run anymore. But, for karate, boxing, BJJ, and MTBing, I am a fan of the Jockey go stretch boxer briefs http://www.jockey.com/en-US/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?CS_ProductID=9881&CS_Category=all%20gifts%20for%20him&CS_Catalog=Men&cm_vc=ProductPage

Bought a bunch at Kohl's for cheap. Normally $20 2 pack, they were on sale, and I had a 30% off ticket, so they ended up being like $4 a pair. They wick OK, and hold form great, wash after wash. They hold your package in place well, so you can just wear your jock and cup over them too. Probably do not wick as well as the UA, but the price is right if you hot deal it.

They hold up very well. I have pairs I bought in 2006 that are still fine today.

Maybe they're worth $25 a pair then, I know I blow thru the Hanes I buy at Target. If I get 8 months out of a pair I'm lucky. I'm just trying to wrap my head around paying $125 for 5 pairs of underwear. lol

+1 for these, although I've been wearing these. They dry quickly and don't ride up.

Just train naked like I do...

I wear CK boxer briefs. Comfy and they do the job.

Knit boxers were the epic win in every way until they got hard to find. Now all I can find is "boxer-briefs" which is a polite way of saying BRIEFS THAT TEAR OFF YOUR TESTICLES AND SHOVE THEM INTO YOUR ABDOMEN WITH LOTS OF UPWARD PRESSURE. Is that my adam's apple? No, that's my balls. In my fucking throat.

i like jockeys as backups if my UA comp shorts are dirty. definitely hard to get good boxers these days... the gf bought me some low-rise boxers once, i could barely sit down in them without almost detaching my satchels... couldnt imagine trying a front squat in them, lol.

I bought some of the UA compression shorts, expensive as hell but so comfortable. I actually went and picked up a 2nd pair a few days ago. Don't have any other compression shorts to compare them to. But these are very nice.

+1 for the Ex Officio Give N Go, best boxers/boxer briefs by a very long shot. Kinda expensive but worth every cent.

I'm glad I read this thread. I've been getting really annoyed on power clean days, all the jumping makes the junk move around and I have to move it back in place.
