When does the next-gen iphone come out? (not that I would ever be dumb enough to fork over $600 for phone...)

how's that phone?

I am looking at getting a Nokia N series soon. I love the Symbian OS on them. Much more customizable then Windows Mobile. I have a T-Moblile Dash right now, (HTC makes it) and I am not that impressed. I like the N82 but have yet to actually see one in person. I also like the N80ie.

I got the N95 a month ago. It's awesome. Blows the iPhone out of the water in almost every way.

what's so special about it?
where did you purchase it from?

I'm a little hesitant ordering off these internet sites, I had a friend who bought an unlocked phone and it stopped working after a month and there's no warranty on those... nearly a $400 phone

N95:GPS, 4 GB internal memory and the ability to install symbian and J2ME apps.

It is a little big though, which is why I have stuck with my Sony Ericsson W800i & W610i

No SD on the N95 if I remember correctly & the Sony obviously uses the proprietary stuff.

I've been using the HTC (T-mobile Dash) and the phone is starting to crap out on me... only had it for 1 year. I'm not a big fan of HTC because of this

My price budget is around $500.. 550 is the MOST I'm willing to pay for a phone

I got it from Amazon. I got the N95-3 which only has 160MB of memory, but then has a microSD slot. I am using an 8GB card with no problems.

What's so good about it....GPS, 5MP camera w/ carl zeiss lens, 3G internet (although not for T-Mobile), symbian OS, stereo bluetooth, fm radio....lots of stuff.

ok.. I'm leaning towards the Nokia N82 (pretty much identical to n95 right?)

any thoughts? I'm looking to buy it off amazon very soon

This is my first time purchasing an unlocked phone, it should work with no problems on T-mobile right and accessing the web through the T-mobile internet service?

I'm going to vote for the HTC TYTN II or AT&T Tilt. Great WinMo device, allows you to use the 3G network, has built in GPS, microSDHC card slow, 3mp camera, full qwerty keyboard. Lots and LOTS of support for it on xda-developers.com, cooked roms and lots of support. You can even turn off the 3G network and have a good 3-4 day battery life on it with basic usage.

They are similar from a features standpoint. The N95 has a bigger screen, the dual-slider style, and dedicated media controls. The flash is better on the N82. Matter of preference really.

the N95

how bulky is it? I carry it in my front pocket and the dash is on the slimmer side

It's pretty thick, I also came from a Dash and it's a noticeable amount thicker. However, I also carry it in my front pocket, and it's not TOO bad. It's not much thicker than flip phones from a couple of years ago (which always were thicker than candybar phones, at least in the pre-razr era). Doesn't really bother me.

HTC p3300 got GPS, FM radio, Wi-Fi

HTC Touch Cruise same stuff just better specs.

If you can get hold of the O2 branded ones (orbit and orbit 2) off ebay they are the same but look better (imho) than the HTC ones. They are unlocked.
