hey all,

looking to purchase a high to mid range video card, i do average gaming, my system specs are amd 2800, asus mobo a7n8x with corsair xms 512mb pc2700 any suggestions,thanks

I have an ati 9800 pro and love it, many people have the 5900 and love it as well.

100 threads on this in Video and General Hardware, but the typical answers are
$150 - 9600 pro / xt
$180-250 - 9800 non-pro, 9700 pro, fx 5900 non-ultra or SE
$250-300 - 9800 pro

The fx5600 is lousy, and the fx5700 ultra is priced too close to the 5900 nu/SE to be worth buying (unless you finda $150 Hot Deal).

i paid $75 for a new 9500np 64mb last month.. i think it's a good deal.. so far, i'm able to run most of the games at 1024x756x32 smoothly except halo and dx:iw.. you need to do some search and you should be able to find one..

9600XP is the best bang for the buck out there.....best overall card is the 9800XT or the 9800 AIW...

9800 Pro going a decent prices now, only $100 more than 9600xt. considerably fast tho, but w/o Half Life coupon.
