what is your use case, and resolution? if you are just running windows desktop at 720p, it's a lot different than running BF4 at 4K, for instance.

What is the 380W PSU model and does it still work fine? Chances are it will handle any modern video card that the i3 530 isn't too slow for. E.g. GTX 750 consumes only 55W.

More detailed specs would help, but if a platform upgrade is too much to do I would look perhaps to a used i7 870 to go with the GPU upgrade. Then you would be more able to utilize a modern GPU.

I am selling my i7 870. It's a great chip that would be worth the upgrade IMO. I wouldn't put too much into that i3.

Also, are we to assume you'd like to play modern games with this? AAA titles? This isn't a media center PC?

I would get a 750Ti and see how it works out on your current PSU.If there are problems then getting a new PSU would be a good idea like corsair cx430 or xfx 450.I would also try to get a used i7.Should be a big upgrade for your current pc.

That i3 will not push those games. Heck, even my 870 might have problems with watchdogs.

I think 260x or 750 ti is a good enough match

but coming from a G210 even an r7 250 is epic.

i3 530 is usable for most games, G210 is not, so a VGA upgrade first is a good choice.

Agree. The G210 is certainly obsolete for any kind of gaming. It's a 5 year old lowest-end DX10 card with a whopping 16(!) shaders. I'm going to recommend the 750TI, its a little slower then the 260X, but close enough not to matter too much. It also doesn't require a 6pin PCIe connector. What's more it can be overclocked for a bit more performance while still staying within the 75W limit of the PCIe slot.

If you're after absolute performance, go with the 260X, perhaps even the 265 (or HD7850 if you can find one, they're almost the same card).

Why GTX 660? Are you getting it for cheap? The 260X is already bordering on the too powerful for your i3-530 to handle. GTX 660 would be rather pointless.

What is your budget i.e. how much are you willing to spend for this whole upgrade combined?

Why Cooler Master Elite V2? Do you have no other options? It would help to say where you are located and where you are buying from.

Sorry but that doesn't answer the question. Is that $150 your total budget? You're not willing to spend more than that for the GPU and PSU and possible i7-870 CPU combined?

It would still help to say where you are located

So... total budget is $200 or more for GPU and PSU combined? You're not really answering the question directly so I have to ask.

As I see it, the current i3-530 is not fast enough to benefit from a graphics card faster than what your existing PSU can power. That would be GTX 750 (Ti). Upgrading the PSU without upgrading the CPU at the same time is rather pointless, because you need a faster CPU in order to properly support any graphics card that requires a new PSU. Are you following my logic here?

It would still be a good idea to tell us where you are located......

Tried going for a 60 minimum+ experience with a 6790+ i3 2100 in BF3,could not happen with that cpu but it was still very playable but the cpu did bottleneck the card slightly.

Took a i5 2500 non k and a 7850 and medium 1080p settings with no msaa to accomplish a 60+ experience.A 7850 or similar card would be beast for 1600x900 assuming you match it up with a i5 like I ended up doing.
