If you can stretch a bit to $180 a new 9800 pro here at outpost.com is definitely the way to go

or if you can't

a used 9700 pro off ebay or For Sale/Trade forum here on Anandtech for $125 - $135 is also a great deal, just be careful who you buy from.

Welcome to the forums. Don't take it personally.

Not a bad rig - a 533FSB P4 is still quite good backed with the right video card.

get the 128 bit 9800 pro with 8 pipes. It is not as fast as a real 9800 pro, but it is faster then a 9500 pro, and is 150 bucks. go for that imo.

Right on.

9600 XT is the worst investment anyone could have ever made. I don't know why people ever recommended or bought those cards. 9700np and 9700Pro were around $150-170 for the last 6 months.

Depending on how much money your parents give you for Christmas and how long you want to wait to play the latest games (ie. Doom 3, HL2 (comes out Nov 26th????)), you could wait for 6600GT (AGP), get 6800 or even spring up for 6800GT. If you want to buy right now today, for $150 i'd get 9700Pro.

You can get the Pro, GreenMonkey linked and upgrade your memory to 1Gb in christmas, or you can wait for the AGP 6600GT (probably arriving on christmas). You can also get a new 9700np for 150$ if you don't wanna buy a used card.
