My favorite is "In Harm's Way".

Edit: "Midway" is awesome, too. That's one of the best ones ever, especially if you can get the unedited-for-TV version.

Also don't neglect Tora! Tora! Tora! as the ONLY complete and accurate movie about Pearl Harbor. The DVD edition looks pretty good too.

Dave, that's a great one, too. I have that on DVD. Good one for a rainy Sunday afternoon. And I mean the whole afternoon.
Everybody who was anybody or going to be somebody was in that one.
Midway is kind of like that, too.

I haven't seen many of the old war classics, but I have caught parts of them. I've seen pieces of Tora Tora Tora, Patton, ect. which I liked. I do have Das Boot and SPR on DVD, but (and almost all will disagree) I think my current favorite would have to be The Thin Red Line.

I can't really pick my favorite because I love all of the good ones pretty much equally.

One war movie I have to mention though is The Lost Battalion. It was a made for TV movie about a World War I battalion in the Argonnes Forest.

I shouldn't, but I am going to vote for Black Hawk Down. No emotional crap, no girlfriends back home garbage, just a battle. I love those Delta Force guys.

A war movie that I saw a couple times that I really liked was "Siege of Firebase Gloria" with R. Lee Armey (whom we all know is the best military actor of all time). I dunno why I liked it, just thought it was funny and simple.

The first forty five minutes of Saving Private Ryan are the most emotional I've ever seen though.
