best way to cool down ambient temp

put a window fan right up on the side of case and turn it on 24C temps ambient and just as quiet

Only bad thing about the window fan is it collects dust like a mofo. Not a bad solution though

It is for me. I live in a condo and my association fee covers power no matter how much I use My point being the noise. Efficiency and noise is up to the individual and their budget. I agree w/ the OP; the house fan will reduce the case ambient's and his idea is a "efficient," valid one. Putting pc on the floor (maybe his already is), and cleaning (via compressed air) also helps a great deal.

I was hot and my computer was hotter.....so I followed swtethan's advice. But when I opened the window my room got hotter and my computer crashed. What should I do now? :Q

The point here is if the outside temp (ambient) is greater than the temp in your house(room).......if you blow outside air inside, the inside temp(ambient) will go up, no matter how fast you blow those fans.

Opening a window, turning on a window fan, might cool your ambient temp in the winter....but probably not in the summer.
