Best Windows pre-installed environment?

I've used BartPE several times in the past, and I was just about to make a new build with updated plugins. Then I found something called "Reatogo-X-PE" which is basically from a guy that had his own free, custom BartPE bundled with 500 plugins available. In researching whether or not that was a trustworthy and useful build, I found the following forum thread:

The following comment made me rethink my adherence to BartPE:

Well, with the introduction of WinPE2.0 (from vista), many of the older PE projects we are seeing less and less of for obvious reasons.

If you seek something automated and explorer-like, try VistaPE (google it)

I tried looking for this WinPE2.0 but it doesn't seem like it's easily available and while I found VistaPE, I didn't find out much about it.

But it seems that this poster was placing BartPE in this "older PE projects" category that are being replaced for obvious reasons. Besides the fact that the reasons are not obvious to me, it got me thinking that maybe it's time to try something newer than BartPE. After all, BartPE hasn't been updated since Feb. 2006.

Does anyone have any experience with WinPE2.0 or VistaPE? Are there any other PE projects out there that are currently better than BartPE? Is there any real reason to move beyond BartPE?

PE 2.0 is easily available, that site tells you how to get it, so does searching google or Microsoft.
its all in the WAIK download (1.3gb)

PE 2.0 is nice, not as easy to add drivers and apps and configure like BartPE though
