I think I remember a post/story about McD's claiming that the $1 million prize was physically impossible to get, and denying the guy who got the Boardwalk, Park Place pieces. I'm pretty sure they only printed 1-2 of the "last piece" of any color and sent them off to different parts of the globe. They probably printed hundreds and thousands of Park Place, but printed 1 Boardwalk piece and mailed it off to Alaska.

Until McD's does something about their employees hoarding all the gamepieces for themselves, I avoid them like the plague during these promotions. Last year our local store was out of both cups and fry holders after only two days.

I remember sending a self addressed stamped envelope a few years ago when i was younger and naive and i did get a few game pieces. i think i sent 2 or 3 envelopes. i also remember writing a note inside the envelope i think requesting the game pieces... is that necessary or only the self addressed stamped envelope?

SUMMARY SO FAR

From what I am reading on this and other forums:

1. Outside envelope OK to print labels and address
2. Inside envelope must be hand-written (your choice on Return Address)
3. Best to buy No. 10 envelope for the outside and No. 6 for the inside (no folding)
4. Get a damp cloth to seal all the envelopes (or small sponge)
5. Turnaround about 1 1/2 weeks
6. No need to put anything in the envelope as the company knows what these are for.

Any other facts I missed??

What was their basis for denying the guy?

Thats why you mail off for the pieces. You dont have to eat thier crap food, and they are obligated by federal law to provide a way to let you get pieces without purchases. So let the local stores hoard them all they want.

Screw the pieces - there's a better goddamned chance of winning the lottery.

What's pissing ME off is that I've been denied about ten bucks in Best Buy currency. Every time I ask for it (and I apologize for anyone this is about to offend) after finding out I didn't GET it, people who previously spoke fluently enough go mum, start shrugging shoulders, and disappearing.

Methinks a lot of McDonald's employees' friends are going to be proxy buying a lot of flat screen TVs this Christmas shopping season.

You have to put a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope inside the one that you send them. That way, they open up the envelope, see an unsealed envelope addressed to you and stamped, they throw a gamepiece inside and mail it back to you. So it costs two envelopes and two stamps worth for each entry.

You might want to read the rules.

Cut your costs even more and go sign up for a stamps.com account (if you haven't already) and get $25 of free postage

I find this so vauge and ridiculous that it's an utter waste of time, much like the rest of my post will be. Why not enlighten us to the death that smoking brings or that speeding kills or a few of the other thousands of less than healthy things that could happen to us. Why stop with just McDonalds? Last time I checked they still had McSalads there, so Dr. Obvious tell me how salads destroy your body and disease your heart. Although you may be a mass media sheep not all of us are, in fact most of us here are able to think on our own. Tell us this, when you put your "Supersize me" DVD away do you file it under documentary or biography?

Yes, make sure you get in your cars and drive way over the speed limit on your way over to McDonalds. Don't forget to light up a few smokes on the way and by all means stop at the local corner store and grab some cheap vodka to swill down while you are passing other cars on the right. You'll be working up a man size appetite so when you get to Mcdonalds make sure you supersize it!

I think I'll just mail in for my game pieces like everyone else. Isn't that what this thread is about anyway?

Great link, thanks. I wonder how they can determine the number of winners though -- is that the number of "rare" pieces in circulation? If so, the odds are overwhelming that no one will ever win since the people who play represent only a portion of McDonald's customers. Or do they have a few rare pieces out there but only the first person to redeem them wins.

I saw a some ebay auctions over the weekend offering rare pieces, but they were gone a few hours later. McDonald's lawyers must be working overtime on this contest.
