That sure is true....

Just an F.Y.I

Don't use the best buy $$ on a game pre-order, they don't show on the reciept.

The reciept just shows what you were charged cash wise.

And they go by the reciept for how much to take off when you pick up the game

i.e the online pre order is for $10, you use a $3 best buy $$ and $7 on the debit card.

When you go to pick up the game, they will only want to give you $7 towards the game purchase.

How do the BB bucks (and giftcards) work with rebates? Suppose I bought a hard drive entirely with BB bucks and a gift card and then put in for a rebate? Example...$75 gift card + $6 BBB + $19 cash with two $35 rebates ($70)? Would that be a problem?

Shouldn't have a problem. Got the Netgear 802.11g wireless bundle FAR and this week a 120GB Seagate for ~$25 AR. Life is good

I was just at MCD's and there were to little kids that were like 10 and they were freeking out when they saw how many game pieces they were getting. Then like 10 minutes later, one went up to the counter and asked if he could get a free medium drink with his free mcflurry piece. ( trying to get more pieces) and SHE GAVE IT TO HIM! Man if that worked I would have got a Large drink out of it and get some BBBs!

If you plan on using more than one Best Buy Bucks (Mcdonalds Monopoly) on a pc or video game forget about it, YMMV depending on the cashier. I went to BB yesterday to get AOE3 and had $16 in BBbucks. The cashier said I could only use 1. I said, "Did you guys change the rules on me? I used 4 of them 2 weeks ago on Dragonshard." She responded, "My manager told me to only accept one on games" I told here I didn't want it and left.

I then proceeded to Circuit City where I was planning on getting the $10 gift card that they were advertising you'd get if you bought the game. I went to the register and the girl rang it up. I mentioned, "I get a gc right". She says "I don't have any, you'll have to go to customer service" (by the way I was the only customer in the store checking out) I walked past 5 employees socializing and looked around the corner at CS. There are 7 people waiting on one employee to help them. I threw the box down on some cart and walked out while noticing the cashier standing there twittling her thumbs. I guess it was to much for her or those 5 employees to help out a customer. I was so angry I went to Funcoland and paid full price.

Claim - $3 limit applies to games
Counter - "video games" is specified in the "limit 3 of any title" line. Why is it specified there, and not on the $3 limit line if that were the case. CD's and DVD's are <$20 items, games are often MUCH higher.

Claim - limit qty 3 BB Bucks per title
Counter - The line limits the purchasing of 3 copies of ANY 1 title. It does NOT say that you can only use 3 BB Bucks "slips" per a title. Read that line carefully - I got it wrong the 1st time I looked at it. The line is "Limit 3 of any 1 CD, DVD or video game title per store visit." NOT Limit 3 (certificates) ON any 1 CD, DVD or video game title per store visit.

Claim - Corporate has changed the rules.
Counter - present your printout and ask why their own website has not been update IF this were true. (it's a bs answer when they have nothing to back themselves up)

I'd like to hear what other objections they raise so that we may be better prepared for them next time... So if you go and they cause problems, please post it here.

Labgeek,

You hit it right on the money, you have to argue with everyone just to get them to do what they are supposed to do. Just do what I have been doing, buy from best buy and call about your how service was. Not only do you get to complain but a chance to win money.

When I was arguing, I got to the limit 3 BBB before the cashiers saw my point. Then she rang them in. I haven't heard the whole "corporate changed the rules" as excuse yet...

Labgeek,

Do you have to buy from them first before you can call and what number do you call?

Thanks

That pisses me off the changing of the video game policy. I ended up entering the codes online then picking up in store when i used my first set of BBB's.

Just for clarification -- can we double dip? Can we use the codes from the BBB pieces both online and use the BBB pieces in-store at the same time, or do they also record the codes in-store?

I am planning to buy Grad Theft Auto for the PSP. It comes oout tomorrow. But after reading this thread, it seems like those bastards at Best Buy will give me a hard time if I put down $48 dollars worth of BBBs for one game.

So I can put all the codes (max 40) on bestbuy.com and go pick up the game with no hassle?

Yep. That will work without a hitch.

Ok, this might be pushing it, but anyone try buying an iPod at bestbuy.com using BBBs?

Read the rules...there are some items you cannot use the BBB with.
Apple Products are one of them.

No mechanical reproduction allowed. So yea, all handwriting.
As for a return address on the SASE envelope, I didn't bother.

To request a Game Piece without buying something at McDonald's, persons in the United States, Guam & Saipan may mail a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage and their return address (name, street address, city, state, country, and zip code) legibly printed thereon to:

Picked up that 100 coil of stamps today. Mailed out 57 requests. Going to do about 60 more tomorrow. Then sit back and wait for the BBB to come in.

Went to McDonalds for lunch last night (I work the night shift). Used an Entertainment coupon (buy one large sandwich get one free) to get two Premium Chicken sandwiches and then ordered a large fry, netting three game pieces. Scored $3 in BBBs on each piece--or $9 total! Wow, free lunch. Only cost me $5 for lunch plus $9 BBB. I have $14 in BBB now. (Of my 6 pieces, four are for $3 and two for $1.)

Can we use the BBBs on hard drives that come with rebates? I think I might pick up the Seagate 120 GB drive that's on sale for $30 AR. Hard drives are one of the few areas where local retailers seem to beat online e-tailers since they love rebates. Not sure what else would net me a good value at Best Buy.

Trust me, I have read the rules about ten times. I was just wondering if the bestbuy main computer is programed to excludes all those things they say are excluded. I added an iPod shuffle, and entered most of my BBBs. I was able to navigate all the way to the last screen with the button "submit order." But I didn't click on it.

My thought is that if they give you a hassel at the store when you try to buy a game and apply over $3 in BBBs, but yet you can get the game online without a problem, do the people handling the online purchases really see that you used BBBs?

Someone at Fatwallet said that they are cancelling online orders if you use BBBs towards an "ineligible" item. You will be able to submit your order, but it will be cancelled, and you will lose those BBBs. You may be able to squeeze by if you use in-store pickup and head out to the store the instant you get your confirmation e-mail, though.

this whole thing still is a fricking rip-off. Went to McD last Sunday and asked why I didn't get any monopoly tokens with my 4 meals I ordered. The lame response was that this special was in its last week and they had run out of french fry/cups that hold those things!

YOU CAN'T!!!

These are not gift certificates - they deduct the BBB amount from your total and if you return the item, you just LOSE the BBBs!

If you buy a $200 item, apply $50 in BBB to it, you will have paid $150. If you then return it, you get $150 back, and THAT IS IT!
