Hmm...

I just found an Illinois Avenue piece sitting on the floor. It says "100 Million Points" on it. Does that get me anything?

YMMV-

I went and got Civ4 with 49 BBB's and the cashier simple swept them into the trash.

So there is a chance for the double dip, I scanned them before going to the store

I used my 21 McBucks too. I had a whole bunch of Buy one Large Sandwich, get one free coupons (Entertainment Book), so I've been scarfing down a lot of chicken sandwiches for and a couple fries here in there for lunch. Even won a McFlurry. ("Supersize Me!")

Anyhoo, I decided to take the $75 gift card that I had from signing up for SBC DSL and used it plus the McBucks to get the Seagate 120 GB hard drive. Cost me $8.50 out-of-pocket. Now I need to get the $70 back in rebates or it will be an up-the-butt deal. Basically, I get to convert my $75 gift card into about $65 cash when the rebates show up, so it's good. I don't really have a use for Best Buy other than loss leaders and Black Friday. Their video card prices are a total joke (as they are for almost all of the B&M retailers).

I'm an idiot though...I should have scanned the McBuck numbers and ordered something online. I forgot to scan them. Oh well. Looks like we really could have double-dipped.

Score so far, for 11 game pieces I scored: 5 $3, 6 $1 for $21. Not bad; I beat the odds. But why oh why did I forget to scan them? I guess I'm just an amatuer when it comes to FatWalletting.

Nah there's lots of Boardwalks. In fact, I found two and figured they were the "easy" piece out of that group, so I threw them out. It didn't seem worth it to go through the trashcan to find them. No big deal, though -- I figure I'll get another couple of them before the game's over. Besides, what can you buy with a measly million dollars nowadays, anyway?

So they don't always sit there and input the 17 digit code into threir computers? I think that as soon as you left the store, the cashier took out all those BBBs and kept it for themselves. It's hard to imagine they will sit there and input those codes for 100+ $1 BBBs. Good way to piss them off if they didn't let you use more than $3 in BBBs towards video games.

Yeah, but if you can get around that by just returning the initial purchase and then using store credit, it's really not that big of a hassle. And if you sat there and waited for them to scan all 500 tickets, you can sit there a little while longer.

On a nice note, I found a local Grocery Store (Fred Meyer) that was selling postage books with coupons for $6.49 for a book of 20 stamps. Anyone else have a good way to cut cost on stamps?

Steal them from work.

Well there is a way around this. I ordered CIV 4 online and used the pick up in store option. I was able to use all the Best Buy Bucks on the game and Im picking it up this evening........can they still deny accepting more than 1 BBbuck on a game if the online order accepts them??

I used $98 worth of BBBs to buy two copies of PSP Grand theft Auto yesterday at bestbuy.com. I put in two separate orders in case they decided to give me sh!t. So I ended up paying $1.05 for one game, and $1.06 for the other. Don't ask me why there is a one cent difference. I was so happy that the order went through that I didn't even think about the one cent until today.

Hey guys, just adding to the topic, I've been over at slickdeals discussing this game for a while now (over 100 pages of posts over there), and from what I've read (which is a lot), you can actually use your BBB on anything online, because they haven't set up there computer system to only limit you on certain items. Also, a lot of people have said that you can double dip. The safest way to do this is to buy an item in store with the BBB, then a week or two later you can input those codes online and try and buy something. That way, if they actually do check your codes / input them into the system (which everyone says they don't), then you aren't really at any loss. However, if they do work, you've just saved some cash .

Also, people have been reporting that they are getting there SASE's back with no BBB game pieces today, only a copy of the rules with the section talking about the "while supplies last" highlighted, and then 2 McDonald's game pieces, so it does not look good as of now .

I can confirm that they are sending out SASEs with the rules and no BB bucks. I sent out 40 of them the first week, and just starting getting my pieces this week (about 12 so far, 2 of which were the "no BB bucks" variety). Not looking good.

Pretty annoyed, to be honest, since I sent out my mere 40 requests (chuckle) in the first week of the contest, am only just now getting my pieces, and they are already running out. The contest doesn't even end for over 2 weeks, so this is pretty sad on their part.

Not that I think you can win anything on the online game anyway, but I think McDonald's is even welching on it. I'm getting "invalid code" messages from valid pieces...from different McDonalds, so there can't be an issue of counterfeiting. How convenient this happens on the week they're periodically awarding iTunes downloads.

For all those that tried to buy a video game and got the "you can't use more than $3 BBBs towards games"...

This happened to me, and I wrote a complaint email to Best Buy. I got a reply back today, and the lady said that you CAN use more than $3 dollars on video games. She told me to go back to Best Buy, and if they gave me problems, tell them to call 1800 BEST BUY, and talk to corporate office. Apparently the $3 limit on video games is a bunch of crap set up by sh!tty BB store managers. So call corporate office, and they will straighten things out for you.

Has anyone bought something using BBBs at a Best Buy store and ACTUALLY SEEN the cashier input the 17 digit/letter code? I went there yesterday, and the cashier scanned the UPC code on one of the BBBs, and manually inputed the total discount. On my receipt, it only shows ONE $1 BBBs coupon. The rest of the discount shows up as "discount". I think that employee probably will reuse those BBBs.

Just got 16 of 20 I sent out.

I live in the Cleveland area and they were postmarked as coming back from Cleveland.

Received Best Buy bucks in all the envelopes. Haven't opened them yet to see the value.

HOLY CRAP!

After reading the results people were having over at slickdeals (getting envelopes back with two normal games pieces, no BBB, and the rules that stated "while supplies last") I thought I had no hope of getting any BBB as I sent my requests the last week of October.

Well, I opened my mailbox today and found 21 envelopes! All of them had (1) BBB and (2) sets of two normal game pieces.

The haul so far:

21 Best Buy Bucks
84 Game pieces

Now I just gotta peal them all!
So do not give up hope if you sent your request late in October!

Update: $42 in BBB on 21 requests. Effective discount at BB after expenses: 65%
Plus, free burger, breakfast, drink, and McFlurry.
