He kept pumping up the deal and getting everyone's hopes up and it turned out that the deal was nonexistent...

I just wasted half an hour of my valuable time calling a dozen BBs in the Philly and DC area and they all told me 2199 with a 200 dollar MIR. Some were out of stock and When I asked if they could do a "computer fullfillment" they STILL told me it would be 2199. Don't get your hopes up. This guy is a creep.

before you start calling me a fraud, please reread the thread. if you are referring to the rebates, i had both of those scanned and someone posted them for all the DL. if you are referring to the possible market reaction price that it might drop down below $100 then that wasn't originated by me, it was another and he also said it was possible, but not for sure. so i think you should take your rude words back and i don't agree with your comments. if you don't like the deal don't post in here, if you want to flame don't post in here.

btw, the best buy i work at is BEST BUY CHINA. =)

and once again, please reread some of the post in this thread, if you notice rossman has called and has stated that the lappy was 21xx.xx but was not sure if the csr logged into the register to ring up a computer fullfillment.

I'm starting to think you're right but we won't know for sure until someone (other than elfnumber1) can confirm that this deal is actually legit.

I just wasted 30 minutes of valuable work time calling Best Buy's all around Oregon and Washington. So far ALL of them (including the Spokane store which has 3 in stock) have confirmed the price is $2,199.70 - $200 MIR. I just spoke with Austin at the Spokane store who was kind enough to ring up the model number AND SKU on both the Best Buy computer fullfilment and the actual cash register, both of them quote a price of $2,199.70

So unless I can see a copy of a legit BB sales receipt or elfnumber1 can PM me where he works (I will not disclose it to anyone) so I can call and verify (I won't mention your name, I'll just play dumb customer asking a question about a laptop) then I'm gonna have to assume that we've just been fleeced, big time.

So he can either clear his name or we can all assume that we've just gone on a good 'ole fashion wild goose chase.

I'm still looking to confirm the deal. I can't see any reason why he would lie, and ruin his reputation amongst AT'ers, but if that's his thing, o'well . . . sometimes the illusion of a great deal is as fun as a good deal.

You need to lighten up a bit. It's not that big of a deal. An annoyance, sure, but it's thirty minutes that most of you would have just been sitting around on the HD forums, waiting for something to liven up your lives.

I should add, if you want to stop "wasting" your time, then stop. Wait for one of us to confirm or deny the deal exists. In the meantime, just be patient.

Comon guys, get real. When was the last time anyone got a top-of-the-line sony for $1000 ?? You guys should be kidding yourselves to think Sony would let anyone sell a $2000 lappy for less than half ( after the rebate ). Before I bought my Inspiron 8100, I was looking very seriously at Sony. After major research i concluded that Sony sells crap at ridiculously high prices. Good luck getting this. IMHO, this deal does not exist.:disgust:

I just got back from my BestBuy, they didn't have the laptop in stock so I asked them to go through the motions of loggin into the register, ringing the item up and putting in the computer fulfillment order number, and guess what? It rang up as $2199.xx with -$200 rebate. They even showed me the mock receipt and said that it was exactly as it would be if I had purchased the item. Hopefully they did everything as I stipulated, since I was not actually buying the laptop, but it looks like this is a no go for my area, even when the laptop is not in stock and has to be obtained from the warehouse using computer fulfillment. It wasn't a total loss, I picked up some CD-Rs!

I went to Bestbuy and bought one for $2199+tax. I talk to the bestbuy guys, they said there can't be any price difference from one bestbuy to another. Therefore, what I need now is a receipt scan that proves that one bestbuy sold this laptop for $1299.

I'll really appreciate your help in this matter. Your or any of your friends receipt will help me.
