Bethesda kicks PC Skyrim fans in the n*ts

Hardly. I saw a lot of PC Oblivion players whining about how "unplayable" the game was. No it was perfectly playable and everybody knew it.

when i first bought Oblivion. i could not play it. i had various crashes, graphical issues and errors. Other people may have considered it unplayable due to frame rate issues...it was a rough game to run when it first came out. At least for some of us. i had top tier hardware too at the time.
So was GTA 4, Splinter Cell conviction...etc.

I've never fully completed any bethesda game (as in completed all side quests) so I doubt I'll get the DLC anyway.

The shivering isles expansion for Oblivion was pretty cool though. The two fallout 3 DLC's I tried were terrible.

I bought it in box, about 1 year after release. Played through about 30 minutes (much of which were cut scenes) and wham, crash to desktop. No warning, no anything. Found out it happened regularly, and I wasn't the only one. Found a patch for that.

Then several hours in, it sort of dawned on me that the leveling system made leveling not just pointless, but even detrimental. Unless you did some ridiculous min-maxing stuff. Like jumping off a cliff three hundred times. Which made leveling only about neutral, but still not really beneficial. I know there are mods to fix that stuff, but that's when I quit.

I wonder how much say Bethesda gets in deciding who gets DLC first? Anyway, no matter who gets what first if Skyrim is not a hit Bethesda will just be another drowning small fish in the big pond. They really need Skyrim to uphold their reputation. The game genre itself needs a major boost.

I probably won't buy right away if I buy. I'll wait for reviews and any bug squashing if needed. Then I'll decide. I wish them much luck though. I'd hate t see this genre go out with a major fail.

No, it was definitely unplayable. I quickly gave up on vanilla Oblivion, then only came back a long time later when the modding community had developed.

I felt bad for my friend who got the console version...he was stuck with a terribly unplayable game. I'm having a hard time convincing him to get Skyrim...

Thats why i wish devs would support Linux. technically it could be the ultimate gaming platform with a lot more distro's oriented specially for gamers

The fact is that Linux desktop market share is in the low single-digit percentages. Get over it.

+1, Exactly. Microsoft uses the huge profits they make from Windows gamers to screw Windows gamers in favor of Xbox gamers.

The only thing better about Windows is gaming, and after the way the treat PC gamers, I will never buy a Windows phone, tablet, or netbook.

It cracks me up, the only reason consoles have any validity is because of strong armed corps throwing money at exclusives.

All M$ had to do was continue to use PC parts to make a console with keeping their costs low and maintaining some kind of profitability. PC gamers would have been happy and it would have been the best of both worlds.

Yeah, don't forget there's another console called the PlayStation 3, so it's not a "console vs PC" thing. It's just Microsoft waving lots of cash at Bethesda. Bribery is even more effective than nut kicking. I'm going to remember this when playing the persuasion minigame in TESV.

sherlock! but that has nothing to do with the fact that from a technical standpoint, it could be the better platform for games and power users.

a non upgradable, fully restricted PC? thats what the Xbox was and PC gamers still wernt happy, thats why they just got a PC they could control and upgrade. it was definitely never the best of both worlds, at some point you get worse graphics on outdated hardware on a machine that does far less than a PC does.

You are missing the bigger picture. Microsoft shutting down their PC game developers, or turning them into Xbox exclusive developers. MS buying PC game developers and making them into Xbox exclusive developers. MS buying the rights to a title in development, and paying the developers to not make a PC version so it can be an Xbox exclusive. MS keeps screwing over PC gamers to make their POS XBox look better.

This is just one more straw on the camel's back.
