But why the "trash" at the end of Ameritrash? Because you're trashing the other players or something?

Ameritrash has been around for awhile, it is no longer derogatory and the players who love those games say it with pride. Euro's suffer from optimum play style and the lack of direct interaction means that there is little opportunity for players in the rear to recover. On the other hand, Ameritrash games suffer a lot from king making and the screwage factor.

Main advantage of "ameritrash" as compared to eurotrash is that too many euros have a catch up mechanic making it more difficult to establish a dominant position in the early/mid game. Dammit, sometimes you just want to crush if you get the correct circumstances lined up for you.

Game is fun, but a few of the scenarios need tweaking. I played one once that was so heavily weighted towards the betrayer (me) that I had absolutely no problem crushing the rest of the players without much strategy or luck at all.

I definitely recommend telestrations if you want a fun non-competitive game. It's like pictionary + telephone. The original version is free and it's called eat poop you cat. Only requires pens and paper.

Another game I've played recently is Tsuro: The Game of the Path. It's a quick 10 minute game where everyone places a tile that creates multiple paths. You have a stone that you move along those paths. Your goal is to create a path that eliminates other players by taking them off the board.

Yep, great game. I'm looking at making a "large format" version of it for our next gaming convention. For the record, I do not like the "Of the Seas" variant. It takes a game of planning and turns it completely to chance. Meh.

I've played Telestrations: After Dark, the "adult" version, and it was entertaining.

I've laughed until I cried playing CAH.

The problem with CAH is that it's funny the first time, maybe the 2nd time just due to the shock value. After that it's just lame because the same cards win all the time.

We still keep it (base + 4 expansions we got as gifts) around for the people that don't want to play actual board games, but I do everything I can to make sure it stays in the box as much as possible.

Not with my group... that said, having bought the game for someone as a gift last Christmas, I'm looking at getting them an expansion this year.

Get the "Crabs adjust humidity" cards instead of the typical CAH expansions. There are less duds in there.
