One of my other hobbies is bodybuilding/weight training. Accordingly, at times I adjust my calories downward to lose weight / bodyfat.


One of my valued companions in this endeavor has been "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Spray"


You see, the bottle's label claims:

Serving Size: 1.25 Sprays(0.25g) For Cooking Spray.), 5 Sprays(1g) For Topping Spray. Servings Per Container: 904 For Cooking Spray, 226 For Topping Spray.
Calories: 0 Calories From Fat: 0


You see, if 5 Sprays contain 0 calories, and there are 226 "5 Spray" servings, this product logically must contain somewhere less than 226 calories per entire bottle.


Counting on this presumed truism, I routinely would feast on 1-2 bottles per day, using it as a topping to various dishes, from low-fat ice cream to chicken, to vegetables.

However, according to Wikipedia, this product contains ~600 calories per 100g, and there are presumably 226g per bottle, translating not to less than 226 calories, but to somewhere in the range of 1,200 calories.

I am beside myself.

True, but the catalyst for my Wikipedia search was my buddy who said "this guy at the gym told me that ICBINB,S contains over 1,000 cals" - while Wikipedia may not be the most unimpeachable source, thirdhand gym gossip is as reliable as the CIA

They round. In this case, probably to the nearest 10 Cal. Thus in one topping spray, there may be 4.9999 calories. Just say it's 5. Then 5x226= 1130. That's in the ballpark.

edit: Heh, now if they didn't base their rounding off the topping size but the 1 spray serving, you could have 5Cal x 904 = 4520 Cal, worst case. Although the numbers seem to indicate they rounded for the topping size and not the single spritz size.

I just realized that about 2000 calories would be the maximum Cal for that weight of pure fat though
