LOL at those skateboard brothers trying to scam Saul for $500 for hitting one of them with his piece of junk yellow Suzuki Esteem . :awe:

Even better for me was the subtle touch of Saul walking out to the parking lot the first time and the camera slowly panning by an earlier version of his BB white Caddy that he might have had to the puke yellow abomination of that Suzuki, with the camera lens resting on its chrome model lettering, "Esteem."

Esteem, indeed! Self-esteem, that car is emblematic of Saul no longer having any! :awe:

And what an inspired choice! A failed model from a failed in America brand! From the Aztek and the classic Wagoneer and Jesse's clapped out Tercel in BB on, you could tell the writer's really knew their cars!

See, I thought it should have been the other way around. Using Mike in such a menial role seemed gratuitous. But I liked the ending. We knew going in what the first season was going to be. Where Breaking Bad turned Walter into Heisenberg BCS is going to turn loser Jimmy into criminal lawyer mastermind Saul. There had to be a eureka moment somewhere, the point that pushes Jimmy over to the dark side. Now we know what it is. He's going to weasel out of it, see the money on that side of things and that will change his career path.

Bingo!

Except you of all people should know that, because this part is the prequel, Mike is still Mike the contract killer/fixer, probably just out of jail and forced to take the first job near his parole officer that would hire a guy with a record. He will soon "graduate" from his "menial role."

Oh I see what you did there. I spoke up about observing that half the thread was now about DirectTV and asked a simple question, and you pulled out the 'ol bag 'o personal attacks. Nice!!! How's that red ass?

So, you take a dump on another poster, and when you're called on it, you play the deeply offended victim card.

You're not fooling anyone. That's classic troll behavior.

I enjoyed the show, but did they REALLY have to whore out not one but TWO Breaking Bad characters in the pilot?

Mike was already cringy. But when I saw Tuco, I had to roll my eyes. I mean is the town made of up 20 people?

Yea I didn't get that either but that's what it seems to have come to..chuck no longer works for the firm but has gone nuts and in the first episode he mentions he is going to get better and go back to work. It seems like Saul looks after him and uses his place to crash.

Its a prequel, would be very likely for these people to cross paths considering their ways of making income.

Why would you have a problem with Mike? In BB Mike is working for Saul. This is showing how the two first meet. Would you have preferred them to have simply written Mike out of the story to keep you from cringing?

Saul? I thought he was working for Fring. Tuco was really over the top, felt obnoxious.

I love the show otherwise. I thought this show would be building out strong new characters, not just serve as a prequel reunion fan service.

I'm pretty sure Mike is Saul's private investigator isn't he? Damn, now you have me doubting my memory.

Mike worked for Fring in BB, Saul was in the picture, but Fring was the boss. Listen, its only the 2nd episode, we have time to watch characters develop and end up where they end up.

It's actually 4 characters so far from Breaking Bad. Mike, Tuco, Gonzo and No-Doze.

We know that Saul associates with criminals. This explains how that came to be.

We also know that Saul associates with Mike E. You really think that's a surprise?

There's absolutely no valid complaint here.

Since BB frequently used the extended flashback (even flash-forward) as a storytelling device, this feels like 2 more great episodes of BB. Absolutely perfect.

I think the point is that's HOW he met all these people. Remember, at this point the stuff from BB hasn't occurred yet. Saul had to get to know these people somehow, and this is it.
