I wonder what Mike is going to do with his "soaker hose".

Those nails probably aren't good for the rhododendrons.

The opening montage of the trucker doing the dead drop to pick up a gun in the desert was a pretty clear harbinger. Especially after Mike spent the episode watching the truck and trying to figure out the movements of Hector and his crew. It seems likely that Mike is making a spike strip to disable the truck, the $64,000 question is why? He's not the type to go all cowboy, stop the truck, whack the driver and steal the cargo. What is he going to do after blowing the tires?

Yeah, I was being sarcastic - thanks Cpt Obvious.

The nails are used to keep the hose securely in the ground while watering, DUH.

That doesn't work around here. Too many people are too stupid and too capable of missing hints that are too obvious. The sarcasm detection gene starts to short-circuit because it's thinking "nobody could be that dense" while simultaneously dealing with people who are indeed that dense.

LOL, nobody could be that dense, except for maybe ...

I don't think that hose would be very effective for a spike strip. The nails are too long and the hose is too flexible. It might work but there's a good chance it wouldn't. You'd need something where the nails are held more rigidly and preferably angled in the direction the vehicle is coming from.

Of course that doesn't mean anything for tv. On tv, even the stupid ideas work.

I can't imagine what else it would be used for though. I was thinking a type of caltrop but I don't think it work very well for that either.

Mike turns the water on, the hose fills up and goes flying, sticking the nails into bad guys. That would be awesome.

He's just going to threaten them to back away from his family. He'll ransom the truck or something and demonstrate that he could send everything crashing down if they don't cooperate.

I'm pretty sure a good bit of the nail is inside the hose, which shortens them a bit. He did have them going every-which-way. He might make them more rigid by filling with concrete or something and then breaking it in a few places so it can still be folded up. Just guessing here.

Just watched the latest ep. Gotta' love the deft touches and inside jokes. That HS where Jimmy shot his guerilla vid? W.H. Maudlin. It references both W.H. Auden and the sturdy English word maudlin.

Side note: The poet W.H. Auden taught at my alma mater, Swarthmore College in the 1940's. They told us stories of him waltzing down into the 'Ville (town of Swarthmore itself) every morning in his bathrobe and slippers to have his breakfast.

Chuck's assigned personal aide from the law firm? He pulls up to the copy place in a legendary stealth STI killer Mitsubishi Evo that, like irl, looks like it desperately needs a washing! Bitchin' wheels, young buck!

You could tell that the guys who made BB and BCS know and love cars right from the very beginning of BB -- from Walter White having a both a classic Grand Wagoneer and an Aztek, complete with hubcap missing, to Mike Emmentraut sporting his malaise era mid-life Chrysler, through Jimmy and his broken down, shit yellow, oil burning Suzuki Esteem.

Nothing screams self-esteem like that hoopty, amirite?

Great episode. This is the kind of balance they need to have all of the time. You had 3 or 4 parallel plot lines so there was plenty going on but they still took the time to do each scene right. It was perfect.

Kim knows exactly what's going on but she still defended Jimmy even to the point of making sure he didn't leave any loose ends. She's the yin to Jimmy's yang. She attracted to the freedom he has stepping over various lines and admires him for it but wants to create a different and more conservative balance in her own life.

Chuck contempt and even hatred for Jimmy was really highlighted in the exchange with Kim.

And the Mike plot line was also perfect. Except no matter how hard he tries, he's hurting people, even if he's not doing it directly.

Great episode. Never disappointing. Crap. I actually felt bad for Chuck in this episode. He needs to wear a tin foil hat at all times.

My internet went out right at the last second of the episode last night... right at the part where one major character is repeatedly saying "call 911". For me the screen went black... was that the end, or did something else happen?

No complaints. Loved it! Glad to see that she saw right through Chuck's attempt to poison the well (late night/early morning talk at HHM about their childhood). Wondering if this is the end of Chuck. Preview showed Ernie at an emergency room which probably means Chuck survived in some capacity or else they needed some filler in the finale.

This is masterful writing. The Walking Dead needs to hire Vince Gilligan and crew to fix their own mess.

Is Mike going to shoot Hector, thus placing him in a wheel chair?
That or the driver....

Pretty sure Hector's going to have a stroke, possibly brought on by Mike's actions. The Salamanca's would not have their tenuous relationship with Gus and Mike if he shot Hector.
