Better or Best Heatsink / Fan

I have a Q6600 G0, with a Rosewill RCX-Z2-EX 92mm on a EVGA 680i. Right now I can OC up to 3.0 @3.265V, but my temps start going too high. I've cut back to 2.65 and am stable (with Ballistix DDR2 800 mHz at 1066 5/5/5/12 Mem), and with Prime95 my temps are at about 73 under load (48-50 idle). I want to get a better heat sink and fan to squeeze a little more out of the processer

I am looking at the ZeroTherm Nirvana NV120, the Thermalright HR-01-775, and the Thermalright Ultra 120. Size wize the HR-01-775 seems not too much smaller than the Ultra 120, and for less. I do like the things I've read about the Zerothem Nirvana though. Any ideas?

You could also look at the Zerotherm BTF-90 if you like them not-so-big and you don't want to spend extra cash for a fan.

Yep, this is still a great heatsink and comes with a huge and silent fan on lower speed.
My e4500 is currently at 3.2ghz and 49C under load with room temps of 70F.

$39 plus shipping

Did no one else see that or...?
As for cooler, I like what I've seen of the Tuniq 120, and the TT Big Typhoon

Yep that 3.265V must be a typo.

I had to read it three times to make sure that is what I saw

Ya, sorry. 1.3265V

Tuniq 120 looks OK, as does the Thermalright Ultra 120, but both will interfere with my side mount fan. The Nirvana saves me 12mm. Should just be able to squeeze in.

IMO you shouldn't use a side fan when using a tuniq tower since it has a flat top that will only disterb air flow unless u are able to mount two side. One slot will have a fan and the other won't

It's working well for me, and reviews have been pretty positive.

I use an enzotech ultra-x on my c2q & c2d systems and it keeps my cpu's very cool for an air system. Regardless of what high performing hsf you get if your case cannot exhaust hot air it will still not perform well.

So I put the Nirvana in. I took the window out of my side panel and rotated it 180 degrees. Did some case mods to cut out the poor vent grills for the 120 mm exhaust fan, and twin 80 mm intakes in the front, and modded the side window fan from an 80mm to a 140 mm. Now I suck in cold from the bottom front and exhaust to the top and back, right through the Nirvana. Am able to maintain Prime 95 Core Temps under 68C at 3.3GHz with the fans on medium.

And I don't know how I missed it, but my Q6600 is a B3, not Q0.

Thanks for all the help.

You guys can air-cool a B3 at 3.3GHz and get less than 68C on small FFT?

Quite frankly I am astounded if this is true.

I've got a lapped G0 and a lapped Tuniq that at best I can run 60C on small FFT at 3.3GHz.

Before I lapped them they ran at 65-66C, so the lapping definitely worked and the temps are not some fluke.

the 68C temps are also at a 9XCPU. If I crank up the fans all the way and use the 8XCPU I can cut my voltages down to 1.38 and keep temps down under 65C. That being said, I think I am moving a ton of air through the case, with ambient temps of 21C (about 70F). Remember I am intaking with (1) 140mm and (2) 80 mm, and exhausting with a 120mm (back) and an 80mm (top), plus the PSU fan which is also suck from right by the HS and ehxausting out the back.

If I drop the voltage down to 1.35 I only lose 1 core in Prime95. I have cranked it up to 3.4, but my temps climb up into the 70s. I'm content with the performance.

Idling away with fans on low I can stay around 40C for the cores (38C for the CPU). That is more than adequate for most of what I am doing. I only need to crank up the fans for DVD rendering and Games.
