BEWARE BAIT & SWITCH on "Omaha Steaks, Burgers, and Cheesecake" deal last wk. Shipping added BACK on at time of shipment

I just got my shipping confirmation for that Omaha Steaks, Burgers, and Cheesecake deal from last week and the S&H that was supposed to be zero for the new customers deal was added back in at $10.85 at the time of shipping. Called Customer Service and she told me, basically, tough luck, buddy. She said that it was still a good deal for what I was getting. I argued with her that it was not what was promised, but she did not care and would not help me. :|

My confirmation on the day of purchase said this, exactly:

Am I wrong, or does that confirmation reasonably tell me that S&H was going to be waived, maybe as part of the new customer deal? Did anyone else buy this assuming free S&H, or was I just mistaken? It surely takes some of the HEAT out of the deal. Now that beef won't be as tasty.

But they told you what the shipping charge was going to be on every single step of the checkout process which you agreed to. The only thing that didn't have the shipping was the email confirmation. You knew this going into the deal and took a chance. You still go a good deal.

I got the same thing. But the problem, i agree at the time of purchase and check out was the $25.95 price to pay that price. My confirmation e-mail says 14.95 plus tax. So who is in the wrong, that is probably btw the credit card company and the purchaser to dispute in the end.

Agreed. It isn't worth disputing. I've wasted more on far less before. I'll eat the cheesecake all at one sitting to drown my sorrows!

Nowhere on the HSN site did it say you would get free shipping.

Why the hell do you think that you shouldn't have to pay for something that you consciously and freely agreed to pay when you placed your order?

Anybody who disputes this charge after agreeing to pay it is attempting to defraud HSN and/or their credit card.

While you were ordering NEVER once did you ever see it mention free shipping. The mistake was when they sent the E-MAIL confirmation showing no charge on the shipping. You have nothing to complain about, you assumed like others there was free shipping when there really never was. Get over it!

There was a deal for first time HSN buyers to sign up and get free shipping on there first order.

This is a bait and switch, I would refuse the order and dispute the charges. Your credit card company will be very willing to help you on this. When the shipping costs nearly as much as the product I would not buy it either. I almost got onto this deal, but as a chef I get Omaha meats all the time, and to tell you the truth the portions they were sending did not constitute the costs of the $15 for that package. It was all cheap meats anyhow. Not really any of there better cuts.

I cancelled my order and it was my first, last , and only HSN order.

And, yes, it was truly my first order; so I did expect the free shipping for new customers.

Good Riddance HSN!

The final statement from HSN regarding my purchase is the confirmation email.

The final line item regarding shipping is $00.00.

The bottom line total is $14.85.

Now HSN can say whatever they what, and make technical arguments about what a web page said about S&H charges.

The email order confirmation changed that and included free shipping, just like their web site said was offered on 'thousands of items'.

We all can see now that HSN made a mistake , and the simple fact of good customer service is that when a business makes a mistake they act in good faith and accept the cost of their error.

A reputable business should never say ' oops, we made a mistake..we'll make the customer pay for our mistake '.

What HSN should have done, IMHO, is honor the free shipping if the order confirmation said shipping was $00.00.....and fix the mistake and let future customers know that there will be no further free shipping on that article.

In my opinion, the value of the Omaha Steak deal was very good at $14.85, and not a good enough value at $25.80. I've received enough Omaha Steaks as business related gifts to have an opinion.

What happens when you "QuickTrack" your purchase at HSN.Com? (Click QuickTrack - top of screen.)

Our order says "Shipped 8/9/02," but we've received NO shipping confirmation.

Click on your "Omaha Steaks..." order, then PRINT the page you see (it should be time/date stamped).

Our QuickTrack info shows this:

(Note: Our 1st order got screwed up (MBNA's "ShopSafe" authorization for $18 was declined). So we phoned in a 2nd order the next day - the CSR increased the "discount" to include the "free shipping" mentioned in the e-mail we got the day before. But, while our situation may be unique, I'd urge you to use HSN's QuickTrack to see if you can confirm (and PRINT) *today* what your original e-mail confirmation said.)

While we're on the subject of HSN, I made my first order from them for a mustek bearpaw scanner which I know mentioned $20 mail in rebate. Recieved the scanner and no mail in rebate. Product page is also gone. Others in the same boat

I received my Omanha steaks, burgers and cheesecake. The cheesecake was rather disappointing. The cheese part was good but the crust was like stale pie dough with a off taste. As for the free shipping. I know I could get the money back from my Credit Card but is it worth disputing a lousy $11 charge? I would rather save my disputes for bigger fish like when I renege on my Direct TV contract. Oh never mind....I cancelled the card so now they can't tack on a penalty anyway.
