If it's for outdoor lighting Lowes and Home Depot have a decent selection. Oh, yeah, they have lots of indoor stuff too.

mouser sometimes has lower prices than digikey, but digikey is always easier to find what you are looking for without wasting a ton of time searching. plus if you need to return something, mouser is a lot more complicated to work through for an RMA. ive purchased from mouser before, but only when digikey doesnt carrry what i need (almost never).

True, but if you want to build multiples of a project, Mouser has a tool that lets you group a given number of assorted intems into a "project", so if you want to build, say, four fan controllers, you just add four "fan controller" projects.

That, and I've yet to RMA a metal-film resistor or capacitor.

I second (or third?) digikey

I like they're catalog much better, it's easier to find crap.
Could always browse on digikey, then figure out exactly what you want and place your order with Mauser (assuming the price is lower)

I do that with NewEgg and Tigerdirect

That's a dangerous game to play

I like Mouser...sure, the catalog is a little tricky, and sometimes the sheer number of choices is crippling, but the price, selection, and shipping's always been good for me.

Radio Shack is about the worst place to buy electronics anymore.

jameco.com is pretty good. I used them a while back when I had to build a gaussmeter, but I never finished since the Hall-Effect sensor turned out to be a SMT type, and not a regular IC package as I expected.
