No here. This is the time of year where I pretty much stop buying anything from anywhere. Don't generally start again until January.

Lotsa advertisements here for Black Friday sales, which is weird since only a few people here speaks English

This is usually when I buy bulk purchases for the next year, but I don't really need much. Probably just tobacco. The tree supplies I could use won't be going on special.

End of January clearance deals are usually better for everything but electronics on Black Friday.

I will not be partaking in any in-person shopping.

Black Friday has been fake for probably 15 years now. It has been so fake that for the last 5 years or so they make stuff up before BF and then mark it down to a price that was higher than the summer and call it a deal.

Cyber Monday was always fake.

That and it's not even just a day anymore, it's always a week, or a month, and sometimes it's not even around Christmas time, I've seen it in summer, they will call it black friday lol.

My wifes family is big on the whole BF thing so I'll be going to the usual places like the mall, Menards, Wal-Mart, BestBuy, ect.

At first I kind of hated it but now I've learned to just embrace the craziness and just roll with it.

Oh, are we talking actually going out to stores here? I can't think of anything I'd hate worse. Never done an in person BF, and I don't intend on starting. I grab online deals when they're selling something I need, but I don't actively look for them. I check retailers I use, and see if they have anything. I don't look at places I don't usually patronize.

I saw Menards 11% was ending on Thanksgiving day, but I haven't seen a Black Friday ad for them yet.

Although I personally believe the sales thus far (yes BF now starts online over a week before the real date) are not great, this is bullshit.

If you look at just a few popular Apple products alone, you see substantial discounts that are better than at any point in the year.
9th gen iPad $230 (list price $329)
10th gen iPad $349 (list price $449)
Apple watch SE $189 (list price $249)

I'm sure some retailers pull the tricks you refer to, but you can't fake an Apple deal. Similarly, Amazon's in-house devices are about as low as they get. I didn't compare exhaustively but it should be the same as their Prime Day deals. If you know what you're doing, you'll save money vs. any random day in the summer.

In-person? No. Online? I'll probably order some instrument strings, it's usually a good opportunity to stock up.

I won't necessarily go out of my way to buy stuff on or around BF. I do keep an active list of stuff I'd like to buy during the year, either to give people gift ideas, or just to keep an eye on prices for those and buy when they are cheap. Plus, there are plenty of sites to look and track some historic pricing, so you can tell if something is a real deal or not. I definitely won't go to a store to experience BF in person.

This year, I bought myself a 27" QHD monitor (a nice sale going on at Best Buy) and a 7800 XT to drive said monitor (not on sale, but if it falls in price in the next 60 days or so, I can use the price protection feature on my CC).

Yeah, I had been looking to get an Apple Watch for my wife to replace her aging Fitbit. With the recent price cuts for BF, it seemed like the opportunity to buy.

I said I wouldn't, but I was shopping for something for a project and found a deal I couldn't really pass up. Not even sure it was a BF thing though.

Big Box stores wanted over $50 for 50 feet of 12/2 UF. AMZ had it for $37. Same brand as the local stores too.

I'm back on a 30 day trial due to a small purchase a few days ago of some household stuff. That means 5% on my card, but they are now offering another 1% for no rush, so that makes it 6%. Added a couple of other things for the project that were also at reduced prices.

I went through Black Friday sales like a pacman going chomp chomp chomp and picked up 90% of the hardware for my new PC build. In terms of "real" savings, I saved at least £100. In terms of "I went with something better than I had originally planned", I got a 7800X3D for the price I originally intended to pay for a 7700X, so I "saved" about another £150 there, kinda.

While I'm mildly pleased with myself and my mum would have appreciated the story of saving that much money by buying at the right time, I'm also mildly peeved at the idea that UK suppliers are normally ripping me off by <insert total savings here>.

I'm actually kinda eyeing this generator that just went on sale. Thing is, I don't really need a generator... but the day I do need it, I'll be glad I have it.

I still need to install a generator outlet on my shed but I have everything I need to do it. Since I already have solar outlets going inside the house I'd just set it up so the generator tops up the solar battery. I don't get enough production in winter since it's too dark.

I'm slowly working on a power upgrade for my server room over the next few months as I save up to afford the components, so this could sorta be part of that upgrade and I can just put in a smaller battery bank. My goal is 1 string of golf cart batteries but was thinking of putting 2, but if I get the generator I'll just stick to 1 string. That will give me around 12 hours. We RARELY get outages that last longer than that here but still good to be prepared for a big one.

Bath & Body Works is having a killer sale right now for BF. Buy 3 get 3 free mix and match! I stocked up and added some new stuff to the mix to try out.

I'm trying to order some season passes for Six Flags but their website refuses to take my money so I think I might give up and give my $$$ to Disney instead.
