Towards the end of August, we will be releasing a new patch, 1.03. This patch is currently underway and will undergo thorough testing before it goes out to avoid the problems that have occurred in the past. There are over 140 fixes and improvements in this patch. Here are just a few of them:

* Server and Client performance improvements.
* Improved Server Browser - added Favorites and History Lists.
* Point-farming prevention - game will stop Support/Medic/Engineer point farming exploits.
* Squads - locked squad leader will get a message if someone wants to join.
* Many HUD improvements - see the names of others in your vehicle, zoom level changing depending on vehicle, map zoom depending on map setup (16, 32 or 64 player map) etc.
* Teamkilling changes - the logic of how teamkills are tracked will be changed.
* Gameplay tweaks - the way transport helicopters work will be tweaked.
* Additional scoring changes - players who destroy an enemy commander's assets will be given points.

too bad this is the way BF2 shouldve been shipped...

I hope they fix the teamkilling problems in all aspects.
I cant tell you how irritating it is when someone who wants a tank on your team just has to jump in front of your tank three times, then you are kicked and banned.

Hopefully the teamkilling logic changes will solve the problems with being charged with a TK for secondary vehicle explosions killing teammates, destroyed aircraft falling on teammates and killing them, and mines.

Those who play spec ops will be happy to see that destroying commander assets will give them points now.

What is this that I have been hearing about framerate decreases with the patch? And something about stuttering video performance now with patch 1.01 and 1.02?

Sounds unfriendly.

I think the blackhawk needs a little nerfing....when you have a full one running around with 2 engineers and a medic + 2 gunners, its almost impossible to stop. Especially when I am the pilot

Yeah blackhawk needs a nerf. Compare it to the other transport helicopters.. the other copter is HUGE, slower and less maneuverable. On top of that the machine guns are weaker, lack area effect damage, and cannot quite get as wide an arc as the blackhawk miniguns.

Yep, just like the BFV release. Initially had some serious problems, emergency patch out 'quick' the fixed some of the easy issues, then a real patch out 2-3 months after release.

I'm so glad I didn't pick this one up at release.

Late August... lol.

At least BF2 performance is overall than BFV performance was. Plus it looks way better.

Points for destroying commander assets should have been there from the start. Nothing like crawling all the damn way to the enemy base, get shot at a few times, blow up the arties and find that I'm not getting any credit for it :frown:

Quit nagging, people. Had they delayed it a few months, you'd all be bitching still. I'm glad they've given us a heads-up this early, and not gone weeks without any word. I, for one, am looking forwards to these changes and improvements.

You people always bitch about companies not listening to the community and not fixing the stuff that needs to be fixed. Well, looks like they listened to ALL of the gripes, and are fixing 90% of them (well, hopefully fixing and not breaking something else). Now that a company, and god forbid it be EA, is doing this, you guys bitch about it being a month away, and that it should've been included in the first place. All of these fixes are something that wouldn't necessarily be found until the game has been released. I would complain that a lot of this should've been caught in play testing, but that's nowhere near as good as a million people playing.

Are they going to fix the fact that you have to do something non-natively to get a 1280x1024 resolution on digital displays? C'mon! It's not an exotic resolution or anything. I've had this problem since BF1942! Is 1164x848 or whatever a popular resolution?!

Roll your eyes all you want, I'm just tired of the majority of Anandtech users being such pessimists towards the big companies in this world. From EA to MS to eBay, there's nothing they can do to make you people happy. As a collective, you guys bitch about certain things, and when a company rectifies it, you bitch about something else related to it.

I would not doubt it one bit. I've been doing a lot of that lately seems like . I'm sure certain people here would tell you so.

I roll my eyes because we bitch alot less than other forums. Have you seen planet battlefield?
That being said...

I like the game alot, i wish they would have done more with medals and badges, that kept me playing alot till i got mostly all the badges you can with 11k points. Now its a little boring, i suppose it will get better.
I am glad they released the game when they did, the bugs are minor IMO, they didnt keep me from playing. The team killing is the only bug that i am concerned with right now, the point farmers are just cheating themselves.

The game is what it is right now, no amount of bitching in a forum like this is going to do anything. They (EA) do(es) check other forums for suggestions/bugs/exploits/etc but if you are going to complain about other peoples complaints about this game, doesnt that make you the same as them? This is a forum where people complain/compliment/suggest/etc, its just a fact, no use telling them to stop.

They are not going to fix this. EA HAS NEVER gave us more resolutions for any of their games. What is worst is that you can't get custom resolutions in MVP 2005 :/

I know this may come as a shock to some of you, but 2 months for a patch, by most standards, is pretty damn fast. I have actually been impressed with EAs level of support for BF2 so far.

Now, I do not endorse the condition they released it in. That thing should have been bug tested way more than it was. But, all told, they have been johnny on the spot responding to the issues that have arisen, which is at least a step in the right direction for Gamezilla.

Haven't bothered playing BF2 for over a month now. Was hoping this Patch was released already, but alas.

This is the situation I'm in. I haven't played for quite some time, and was hoping this patch would get me back into the swing of things. I wouldn't look for it to be released till the end of this month.

No I wouldn't have been "bitching." How can a reasonable person miss something that they've never had? Conversely, it REALLY sucks to be sold a BETA and then be berated by people like you because I don't like it.

You should consider limiting the scope of what you say to reflect your opinion alone instead of claiming to know what "we'd all be" doing.
