BF2 Crash

a few days ago BF2 (demo) has started crashing just a few minutes into gameplay.'
it brings me to the desktop and shows me this error:

BF Memory Error
-------------------------
memory.dll: chunkPools::free fails, should not come here!
Cancel - Try Again - Continue

im using 77.30 drivers for my 6600GT, and there haven't been any software changes at all since i got the demo. the only change is that i removed one stick of 512MB RAM from my DIMM 2 memory slot, so that im left with 512MB on slot 1 and another 512MB stick on slot 2 (1GB total). i just ran memtest86 overnight and it's perfectly stable - no errors, 20 passes. it looks like the problem *might* have to do with me removing the RAM stick, but that doesn't make any sense to me. i couldn't find anything on google regarding BF2 and this particular error. any thoughts? thanks.

also, i forgot to mention that today when i started up BF2 and played for a few minutes, i got a really strange crash. it didn't freeze or crash to desktop, but instead just looped the last couple of seconds or so of video. i had to manually restart.

If you have the patch for BF2, I believe that there is a known error w/ memory problems such as that. It's being worked on, if I'm correct.

i have the demo of BF2, i don't believe there's a patch out for it.

I don't know about your specific problem. It's not your memory if memtest86 passes. I'm almost certain it's EA/dIce's sketchy coding.

the looping problem happens to me all the time (when stuff crashes). the video/audio is just playing the last of if its buffer. often happens right before windows shows a BSOD (or if you have BSODs disabled, it just reboots).

but BF2 does not crash on me too much. it has, though.

yeah, it is strange. it just started happening a couple of days after i removed one of my sticks of RAM, and has never happened before. tonight it hasn't crashed at all after over an hour of playing so hopefully it went away.

Kids the memory leak in the patch is server side. Your machine dosnt leak memory the server does. The server will crash which boots you of course. It depends on how much memory the server has but if you get booted every few maps thats what is happening.

i dont get booted.. the game crashes.
i dont have any patches, i have the demo.
where did i say i get booted every few maps? i said the game crashes after a couple of minutes of playing.

I have the same problem, last week i removed my 512 ddr 2100 stick to replace it with a 1gb 3200 stick. Ever since the swap the bf2 demo will not work properly. It gets to the login screen, sometimes while logging in it kicks me back to the desktop. Or while loading the map I'm sent to the desktop. I never actually get to see gameplay. Now some of you might be thinking its the new ram. I got the ram from ebay, sent it back. Got a new stick of ram from PC club, ran memory 86 and got errors. So i exchanged that one and i have a an error free stick of ram in here, 1gb 3200.. the problem persists.

edit: id also like to add i've installed the latest drivers from nvidia, as well as the bf2 reccomended drivers that its bundled with. video drivers dont seem to be the issue
