BF2 Euroforce expansion...wow

I think it's operation smoke screen....

Total chaos. There has to be like 5 or 6 armor/mobile AA for each side, tons of vehicles, 2 heli's on each side....bases that are more like forts...(the windmill farm base is pretty easy to defend...why did we lose it so often?)....lots of fun.

Those of you who have played the expansion....what do you think?

so far I'm not too thrilled... the challenger tanks look more like self propelled artillery pieces! the map operation smoke screen and the quarry one are just more jet raping maps... i was hoping for a map with tanks but no jets. nothing sucks more than being on a team with lousy piltos while the other team has frickin top guns flying around

the great wall map though is pretty awesome. that seems to be the silver lining in the dark cloud that is this expansion. Lots of fun playing on the Wall!!

OH and the biggest mistake is that there's only one new side- the EU, while the other side is China or MEC. The problem is that EVERYONe wants to play the new team... so it's quite annoying. I guess after a few months it will balance out better

DICE could solve the problem with people thinking certain vehicles and planes are overpowered with one simple addition....

Let the server operator choose which vehicles are available on a map.

Don't like planes? Play on a no-plane server. Like planes? Play on a server that allows 4 planes to a team.

More choices are always a good thing.

My short review...

PROS:
- Great map design, nice and large in relation to Special Forces.
- Amazing smoke effects and new archtecture.
- New vehicles.
- It's what Special Force's should've been.
- Don't need to re-launch the BF2 game to play a Euro Force map!!!!! (unlike SF)

CONS:
- Too many vehicles per spawn point. It may adjust into more defensive play though, not sure yet.
- Player faces for the new team seem VERY white. I mean they're from the EU and we get that... but wow.
- Planes don't work well with a rock/paper/scissors style game, or at least they haven't integrated them well yet.

This EA downloader thing is crap. First it takes me forever to figure out that I don't have an account and I can't sign up for my user name because it's also my AIM account. So I have to verify my AIM logon and they finally let me register my account.

Next I have to figure out whether or not I have a gamespy account and what it is. After five minutes on the gamespy site I finally notice the login under subscriptions at the bottom, I login and find I do have an account. Now EA just tells me to put my user name for the account, but the Gamespy account requires you to login with an email address, so what is it, a user name or an email address? Hopefully it's the email address.

After jumping through those hoops, I pay and finally get to download the EA downloader, which downloads and promptly doesn't run. Big error just saying Core with a nice red x. Search EA site, there first suggestion is shutdown any processes you have running that aren't essential processes. Second one is to lower your internet security to medium and if that doesn't work, to lower it to low. At this point, ding, I have IE7 beta 2 installed, well of course EA wouldn't bother getting it to work with this because it's not even out yet. So I'll take the blame on this one, and I uninstalled IE7 and i'm finally downloading the pack now.

7 more minutes and I can finally play this expansion, I just wish they would have sold it on a cd. I would have gladly paid $20 bucks for the cd not to worry about gamespy accounts and EA downloaders.
